Labor Day Weekend 2011

at

 Oahe Speedway

September 1-5, 2011

 

Traditionally Labor Day Weekend begins the wind down of the racing season at Oahe Speedway.  The summer of 2011 has been anything but normal, heavy rainfall in the early season, led to extreme water levels on the Missouri River system, leading to unprecedented flooding in the Pierre/Fort Pierre area. High water levels did not affect the race track itself, but has impacted the lives of many of our racers and track personnel.  Recovery is beginning, but there is still along way to go in restoring some sort of normalcy to the region.

 

The racing must go on...

 

 

Thursday, September 1- 6pm-7:15PM

 

 "The Fast Track Live from the Longbranch"

Broadcast on KCCR AM1240-  "Thunder on the Prairie" will take place in downtown Pierre. 

As the final thoughts are conveyed on our "Fast Track Show-live from the Longbranch"  the assembled cars will be fired up on Pierre Street.  This is the sixth year we have brought together race teams to create some "Thunder on the Prairie"- a  "Cacklefest, Oahe Speedway Style"

 

 

 

Friday, September 2 - 6pm til dusk

 

 Zander Auto Parts / StreetSideAuto.com Street Legal Drags and Test and Tune

At the Speedway.  Street legal competitors will compete for gift certificates from both Zander Auto Parts and StreetSideAuto.com.  The  street legal drivers  with the Best ET, Fastest MPH and Quickest Reaction Time, in each category, will receive a $50.00 gift certificate from Zander Auto parts of Pierre, and a $25.00 merchandise  certificate from StreetSideAuto.com.  Entry fees for both Street Legal and Test and Tune will be $20.00 for the evening.  Basic safety equipment will be required for Street Legal runners, helmet. long pants, closed toe shoes and a sleeved shirt, no tank tops or sandals.

Saturday, September 3 -

 Qualifying at 1pm / Eliminations at 5pm / Gates open at 8am

 

 Oahe Speedway Coca Cola Points Race #3,  presented by Wilbur-Ellis

A make up date for an earlier rainout.

 

 2011 Junior Drag Racing League Junior Dragster Challenge, presented by Proseal Inc of Mitchell. 

This annual competition will be contested for both Junior Minor and Junior Major racers.  The Speedway will award a unique miniature "Wally" to the  winners of their respective classes. All classes will earn 2011 Coca Cola Points Series points for this race. 

 

 

Sunday, September 4

Qualifying at 1pm / Eliminations at 5pm / Gates open at 8am.  

 

Coca Cola Points Race #9

 (all classes will compete)  

 

 

Monday, September 5, Labor Day 2011

 Qualifying at 9am - Eliminations at 1pm.

 

 Coca Cola Points Race #10

 Although this race is billed as #10, this will not be the final race of the 2011 Points Series.  This race weekend will determine the top points finishers for selection of the 2011 Oahe Speedway Summit Racing Division 5 ET Finals Team. The team will be selected on Tuesday, September 6, based on the current points standing through Monday's racing action.  The final race of the 2011 Coca Cola Points Series will be contested on Sunday, September 25, 2011.  Season champions in Super Pro, Pro, Bike, Sportsman, Street Trophy, High School, along with  Junior Major and Minor divisions will be crowned.
