Ware's New Ride
Monday, January 5, 2009
Oahe Speedway's Pro ranks will
grow by at least one new car in 2009. Brad Ware, of
Gettysburg, sent us these photos of his new ride. The
'69 Chevelle with fiberglass front end and doors, is
currently being readied for the 2009 season. Bill
Wright , Steve Boke and Cody Holzwarth are putting together
a 350 CI / 450 HP bullet for Ware. Brad states the
"450 HP , on a budget, motor will be a starting point."
Wright is putting the finishing touches on the GM's TH350
transmission.

Plender's "New" Old Truck
Wednesday,
February 11, 2009
New car news
continues to roll in, with the latest from Ron and Kim
Plender, of Box Elder:
"Hi
Folks, I read Dusty Hofhenke’s note on your web site and
thought I’d give you an update on the car (truck) we are
looking forward to bringing to Oahe this spring. We
haven’t been regulars up there but have been several
times with my white ’56 Chevy 2-door sedan running a 292
inline 6 cylinder and Muncie 4 speed. It is more a
street car than a race car but it has managed mid-13’s
at 100 mph. It has been a fun car but we’ve really been
racing it until we could build a little more serious
drag vehicle. Building something to race always
takes way more time that it should – “life” just seems
to get in the way! Anyway, we love the old iron and
enjoy playing with the inline 6’s so our race vehicle is
a 1950 Chevy pickup truck with another 292 inline 6.
This one has a 12-port aluminum cylinder head and
Hilborn injection. It’s more of a nostalgia vehicle.
We boxed the original frame, reinforced it, added a 9”
rearend and Jerico 4 speed along with a Heidt’s front
end kit. The engine was built by Mike Kirby at
Sissell’s Automotive in Covina, CA – it dyno’d at 468 hp
on race gas (just shy of 500 on alcohol). As you can
see from the pictures, the paint work is done so all we
have left to finish is final assembly and wiring. We’re
not sure what it will weigh or how fast it will be – but
we know it will be fun!
We
look forward to seeing you all in the spring!"

New Micro Poll Posted

Just added a new Micro Poll.

the right hand column to check it out. In
case you are wondering, past polls have told us that, 52% of
those voting visit oahespeedway.com at least once a

their favorite Oahe Speedway class (Sportsman and Jr
Dragster tied at 21% each), 38% have a GM vehicle in their
driveway (Ford was close behind at 35%) and 54% prefer Funny
Cars as their favorite NHRA Pro class (Pro Stock trailed at
24%).

Jimmy De Frank, of
Thousand Oaks, CA, reset the B/SA national record, at Las
Vegas, in late January. Oahe Speedway and Steve
Koppien, of Sioux Falls, had held the record since late
September 2008. The speedway still retains both ends
of the SS/NA record, held by Rick Ryan, of Aberdeen, and
half of the J/SA record, by Steve Hutar, of Cromwell, MN.
Hutar holds the MPH record, while Eugene Monahan and Atco
Dragway(N.J.) owns the ET record.

England 's 2009
Racing Plans
"Altered"
Monday,
February 16, 2009
Curt England's latest
venture, a nostalgia based blown altered, is a work in
progress. The frame is in Huron this week for powder
coating, the motor is ready to go and the body is in the
paint shop. The Weiand blower, atop the 355" Chevy, is
expected to push the small block to around 550HP.
Tentatively dubbed "Born to be Wild", the altered
should prove to be an exciting addition to the England
stable. Karen's Mustang has been updated and
Shawn's Hyabusa has seen some computer magic added along
with a drag slick. The England
race shop is nearing capacity and Curt still has his "Soul
and Inspiration" Chevette for sale as a "turn-key or a
roller". Give the speedway office a call, and we will
get you together.

2009 Season is Finally Underway
May 2-3 Results
Monday, May 4, 2009
Saturday
Oahe
Speedway's 2009 season got off to a great start on Saturday.
A cool
morning gave way to a sunny afternoon of competition in the
Butler Machinery Shootouts.
The Butler
Machinery Box Shootout was an all West River final with
Midland's, Ken Standiford, and Rick Meier, of Box
Elder,. squaring off. In the double breakout final,
Meier chased down Standiford for the win. Meier
got around Gary Buer, Lake Preston in the semis and
Standiford singled in to the finals, in the uneven bracket.
Number one qualifier, Lance Trujillo, Gillette, WY, suffered
a fuel leak in his '67 Camaro in his quarter final match
with Standiford.
In the 23
car Butler Machinery No Box Shootout final, Dick
Rozum, of Mitchell, drove his '67 Mustang to victory
Wade Johnson, of Rapid City. Johnson chased Division 6
points last year, and had not competed at Oahe since 2007.
Rozum utilized a great .012 reaction time to take the win
over Johnson's '83 Suzuki GS 1150. Number one
qualifier, Randy Hirsch, of Pierre, redlit against Rozum in
the semifinals. in the balance of the semifinal round,
Larry Iversen, of Pierre, broke out against Johnson.
Second year
driver, Jeri Vines, of Eagle Butte, drover her '74 Nova to a
win over rookie contender Brian Brady, of Pierre, in the
Butler Machinery Trophy Shootout. Brady ran a
very limited schedule late in 2008, while Vines competed for
most of the 2008 season. Vines advanced to the finals
on a single pass in the semis, while Brady chased down Jim
Jakeway, of Timber Lake, to move on to the title match.
Ron Winterberg, Jakeway's grandson, and number one
qualifier, was sent to the trailer by Vines, in the
quarterfinals.
The Junior
Dragster Shootout rounded out the Butler Machinery sponsored
event, with Bonnie Fuchs, of Bowman, ND, winning over 2009
rookie contender, Jake Miller, of Fort Pierre. Miller
will share seat time with twin brother, Alec, for the 2009
season. Alec suffered a broken wrist in a soccer match
earlier in the week, sidelining him for the early season.
Number one qualifier and past season champ, James Morris, of
Pierre, tossed away his number one qualifying position, in
leaving a bit too early against Fuchs, in their semifinal
match. Miller singled in to the finals.
The 2008
Gator's Pizza, Pasta, and Subs 100MPH Club Member's
Challenge was finally contested on Saturday. The twice
delayed finale, from the 2008 season, was won by Doug Percy,
of Winner. Percy, driving his '78 Malibu, was
able to hold off Tyler Ehlers , of Pierre. Ehlers,
taking over dad Jason's '67 Cougar, defeated Mike
Moldenhauer, of Jud ND, in the semifinals with Percy turning
back Brian Brady, of Pierre, in the balance of
the round.
In this unique class, the qualifiers had to make at least
one run during qualifying or eliminations over 100 MPH
during the 2008 season.
Gator's has
returned as the 100MPH Club sponsor for 2009, with the
finals
scheduled
for October 11, 2009.
Randy
Nygaard, of Watertown, and Schaun Schnathorst, of Huron, met
in the Dale's A-1/Midwest Construction Super Series final.
Nygaard took his '90 Cavalier Super Gas to the winner's
circle by running only .005 seconds over his 10.00 second
dial to defeat Schnathorst. Schnathorst pushed his '00
Gebhardt rear engine dragster a bit too hard, breaking
out by .045 seconds, in pursuit of Nygaard. Nygaard
took on David Rae, of Gillette, WY, in the semis, taking the
win, when Rae left .001 seconds too soon, at the starting
line. Schnathorst singled into the finals.
Sunday
The
weatherman got the forecast right on Sunday, with temps in
the mid 70's and light winds. A large field of racer's
was on hand for the kickoff of the 2009 Coca Cola Points
Series.
The Super
Pro finals found Joe Wolf, of Pierre, and newcomer Scott
Mitchell, of Minatare, NE face off in the finals. In
the closest contest of the weekend, Mitchell ran .007 over
his dial in, to beat Wolf's '02 Worthy rear engine dragster.
Ironically, Wolf ran only .008 over his dial in. The
difference was at the starting line, with Mitchell's wheel
standing '68 Chevelle, gaining a .023 second reaction time
advantage. With a .24 second margin of victory, the Nebraska
driver reached the finish line 71.64 inches ahead of Wolf.
In the
season's first Pro final, TK Casper, of Lake Preston,
powered his '68 Firebird to victory over Tommy Dale Vines,
of Eagle Butte. Vines trailered Pierre' Larry
Iversen, in their semifinal match. Number one
qualifier, Darcy Madsen, of Rapid City, could not hold off
Casper in the semis.
Wade
Johnson, 2005 Oahe Speedway Motorcycle champ, Rapid
City, defeated the 2007-2008 series winner, Chris Boom,. of
Pierre, in their final round match up. Johnson's
closer to dial in run made up for his slower reaction time
against Boom, giving the Suzuki rider the win. Boom
reached the finals on a single run in the semi's.
Number one qualifier, Laura Moldenhauer, of Jud, ND, lost to
Johns in their semifinal tilt.
Derek Gray,
of Pierre, and Tom Harms, of Valentine, NE, met in the
finals of the Sportsman class, with Gray emerging as the
winner. Harms broke out, in the final, giving the "w"
to Gray's '74 Nova. Team Vines, with Jeri Ann at the
wheel of her '74 Nova, fouled against Gray in the semis,
with Harms singling into the championship run. Dave
Mantz, number one qualifier, of Bismarck, ND, tossed away
his chance on a red light start against Vines in round two.
Dave
Glanzer, of Huron, made his first visit to Oahe Speedway a
memorable one, taking the Beck Motor Company Street Trophy
final from Pierre's Randy Magilke. Magilke gained the
final's when Phillip Pease, of Pierre, fouled away his
chance in the semis. Justin Lamont ran a bit too quick
in the other semifinal match against Glanzer.
Alyssa
Colson, of Blunt, showed High School class rookie contender,
Stephanie Holm, of Pierre, that the competition will be
tougher for the newcomer. Holm, moving up to a "door
car", has left the Junior Dragster
ranks to
drive a '94 Mustang. Colson used a quicker reaction
time to defeat Holm, in the final. In a match of
sisters, Alyssa Colson took a victory over her little
sister, Taryn, in the semis. Taryn was a bit too quick
at the starting line, drawing the red bulb, handing the
victory to Alyssa. Holm advanced to the finals when
Shelby Magorien, of Pierre fouled at the starting line.
Snap On Tools and McGaugh Trailer Repair return as High
School series sponsors for 2009.
BankWest
Junior Dragster finals came down to Noah Miller, of Fort
Pierre , and Ashley Holm, of Pierre. Miller took a better
reaction advantage to the win over Holm in the final.
Second year driver Cody Ryckman, of Fort Pierre, was
defeated by Miller in their semifinal match up, and Holm
singled in to the finals. Ryckman took out number one
qualifier, Carly Ellingson, of Rapid City in the first
round.
Chad Uhrig
and Curt Humann, both of Pierre, squared off in the Gamblers
final. Uhrig used a great .005 reaction time to defeat
Humann.
The Junior
Gamblers race, sponsored by Truck-n-Car Wash and Domino's
Pizza, of Pierre, was won by Kimberlee Geuther, of Fort
Pierre. Geuther defeated a red lighting Jonathon Huse
, of Onida, in the finals.

Legner Racing Team
Has a Good Weekend

Bobi and Doug
Legner
at Fan Fest
2009 earlier this Spring
(Motor Race
Images 2009)
Monday,
June 1, 2009
Doug and
Bobi Legner, of Pierre, had a great weekend of racing at the
NHRA O'Reilly Summernationals, in Topeka, KS.
Bobi
Legner, driving her '67 Super Street Chevelle, went out in
the third round, running just a tick under the 10.90 index
with a 10.895 pass. Jeff Landholm, of Oakley, NE,
suffered a similar fate against Legner, in round two, when
he ran .002 under the index. In an extremely
tight field, mere thousandths of a second can mean the
difference between winning and losing.
The second
half of Legner Racing, Doug Legner, advanced to the
fifth round of competition in Super Gas. Eventual winner,
Tommy Phillips, of Forney, TX, eliminated Legner in
the fifth round. Legner ran .027 seconds under the
9.90 index, in his '92 Camaro. Doug was hot on the
tree throughout eliminations, with .015 being his slowest
reaction time through five rounds of competition.
Vinnie
Elsinger, and Millie, the team mascot, served as pit crew
members.
Team Legner
returns to racing action at Oahe Speedway,
this coming
weekend.
Terry Henrikson's
Father Passes
Wednesday, May 27, 2009
The entire
Speedway family mourns the loss of Terry's father.
Wayne E. Henrikson,
79, passed away early Sunday morning, May 24, 2009, in Rapid
City, after his short, but brave battle with melanoma
cancer.
Wayne was born at Arlington, SD, March 18, 1930. He
graduated from Sinai High School and married Maxine Olson on
June 21, 1949 near Sinai. He farmed in eastern South Dakota
until 1969 when he moved his family to Rapid City. He owned
and operated I-90 Standard for a number of years. In the mid
1970’s he started his 30 plus years in the car business as a
salesman, manager and owner.
Wayne’s hobbies and interests included fishing, hunting,
golfing, and car racing. His interest in car racing started
at a very young age and he was very involved with his two
sons, Terry and Danny’s car racing. Proving you can’t take
the farmer out of the boy, he enjoyed “hobby” farming in
western SD in his later years.
Wayne and Maxine wintered in Arizona for 17 years sharing
many good times with friends and family.
Family was very important to him and he was in his element
at family gatherings telling stories and reminiscing of past
times.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Nora
Henrikson; a daughter, Jeanne Swartos; and a sister, Lois
Bolstad.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Maxine; a sister, Marjorie
Tribuzi, Brookings, and a brother, Alden, Alaska. He is also
survived by 5 children; David (Robin), Terry (Debbie), and
Danny all of Rapid City, Karen (Jeff Goings), Fallon, NV and
Joleen (Chris Anderson), Everett, WA. He is survived by 10
grandchildren; Tim Swartos (Barb), Traci Watkins (Darnell),
TJ Swartos, Greg Henrikson, Scott (Bridget) Henrikson, Ariel
Henrikson, Alex, Whitney, and Chad Goings, and Dylan
Anderson. Wayne is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in the name of Wayne
Henrikson has been established to Hospice of the Hills.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, May 28, 2009 at
2:00 p.m. at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City, SD

July 4th Weekend
Results
from
Oahe
Speedway
Monday, July 6, 2009
Saturday, July 4th
July 4th racing action
at Oahe Speedway got underway following a damp and
cool morning. Clouds gave way to a bright and
sunny afternoon of racing , with a few
familiar faces in the winners circle, and a couple
first time winners this year.
Rick Meier, of Box
Elder, marched through the Super Series race to meet
up with Lance Trujillo, of Gillette, WY, in the
finals. Meier, pulling off a
superb .001 reaction
time, out ran Trujillo to take top honors in the
class.
The series runs the
NHRA Super Classes, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super
Street, in a combined eliminator. Meier takes
a commanding lead in the five race series sponsored by
Dale's A-1 Transmissions and Midwest Construction.
In the Dakota Mill and
Grain Box Shootout, Rodney Hopf, of Ramona, took the
win at the starting line in his '65 Comet, when Ken
Standiford, running a '66 Ranchero, out of Midland,
left a little too soon. Hopf took out number
one qualifier, Tim Herman, of Presho, in the
semifinals. Herman earned the number one qualifying
position with a perfect light.
The Dakota Mill and
Grain No Box eliminator came down to Marty Compson,
of Pierre, and Stan "Butch" Monson, of Groton, with
the '70 Duster of Compson gaining the bragging
rights over Monson's "older' '69 Mustang.
Monson, over anticipating the tree, lit the red
bulb, and lost on the starting line. Monson
sent number one qualifier, Tyler Ehlers, of Pierre,
to the trailer in the 3rd round.
Phillip Pease, of
Pierre, qualified number one, with a perfect
reaction time, in the Dakota Mill and Grain Trophy
Shootout, and took his '01 Firebird all the
way to the finals. Shawn England, of Pierre,
followed closely behind, having qualified in the
number 2 position. Pease had his luck run out
in the final, when he red lit away his chances at a
clean sweep, a perfect light and a number one
qualifying spot, falling just .025 second short of a
potentially perfect day. England took the win
on his '06 Hyabusa.
The final eliminator of
the day, The Dakota Mill and Grain Junior
Dragster Shootout paired Carly Ellingson, of Rapid
City, and current Coca Cola Points Series
leader, Ashley Holm, of Pierre, in another match
decided at the line. Holm tried to get the
starting line advantage, but left .002 second too
soon, handing the win over to Ellingson.
Ellingson qualified number one and Holm, number
three. Haley Hopf, of Ramona, qualified number
two, was defeated by Ellingson in the semi finals.
Had Hopf made it to the finals and won, she would
have joined Box Shootout champ dad, Rodney, in the
winners circle.
Sunday July 5th
Sunday's "Chamber of
Commerce" weather produced some of the best racing
competition of the 2009 season. The 2009 Coca
Cola Points Series, reaching the mid-point, may have
defined the balance of the season, with great
battles in all categories.
The 3rd of 5 Dale's
A-1/Midwest Construction Super Series Races was run
on Sunday, with Bobi Legner, of Pierre, taking her
'67 Chevelle Super Street entry to the winner's
stripe. Legner had to get around Saturday's
winner, Rick Meier, of Box Elder, to take the win.
Meier, with his win and runner up finish for the
weekend, tops the points standings, with two more
rounds to go . Legner met husband Doug,
in his '92 Camaro, in the semifinals.
The immaculate pair of
"Bow Ties" paired off, with Bobi taking the semi
final win. Number one qualifier, David Rae, of
Gillette, WY, lost to Doug Legner, in the second
round.
Sean "Lucky" Billet, of
Pierre, out dueled, Rick Meier, of Box Elder, in the
Super Pro finals. Billet, running a '99 Mullis
rear engine dragster, chased down Meier's '84
Corvette, to take the win. Meier tried just a
bit too hard to outrun the dragster, breaking out by
just .018 seconds at the finish line.
Meier, continuing a hot
streak for the2009 season, topped the qualifying
ladder and now leads the Points in the Coca Cola
Super Pro class. Billet
trails Meier, by just
303 points, in the standings.
Joe Harry, of Ferney,
SD, took his first Oahe Speedway win, in the Coca
Cola Pro final. The "Professor of Pro",
Bill Wright, of Gettysburg, fell victim to Harry's
great .014 reaction time in the match up.
Wright and Harry both came from deep in the field to
reach the finals. Wright qualified 22nd and
Harry 26th, in the 30 car field. Dar Hofer, of
Onida, took out number one qualifier, Charlene
Shepherd, of Pierre, in the second round, only to
meet up with Harry in the quarter finals. Stan
"Butch" Monson, of Groton, took a commanding lead in
the Coca Cola Pro Points Series, despite a semifinal
loss to Wright.
Ed Pope, of Pierre, on
his '05 Arctic Cat, defeated number one qualifier,
and Oahe Speedway rookie bike contender, Austin
Uecker, in the second round. Number two qualifier,
Wade Johnson, of Rapid City, got around the 2008
Thunder Valley Dragway Pro Bike Champion, Kevin
Hanson, of Viborg, in the first round, to begin his
run to the finals. Pope left first, on a
slower dial in, and stayed ahead of Johnson, to take
his first win of the season. Johnson, returning to
the Speedway, on a regular basis, has moved in to
the Coca Cola Motorcycle/Snowmobile Points Series
lead. 2008 series champ, Chris Boom, of Pierre,
sits in second place, half way through the season.
Sportsman final winner,
Cal Belden, of Aberdeen, defeated Tom Harms, of
Valentine, NE, when Harms fouled away his chances at
the starting line. Belden's win did not
prevent Harms from taking the Coca Cola Sportsman
Points Series lead from
away from Derek Gray, of Pierre. Gray lost to
Tyler Ehlers, of Pierre, in the second round.
Harms defeated Kent Nauman, of Gettysburg, in round
two.
Ron Winterberg, of
Timber Lake, took his '79 Catalina to victory over
Dolly Rush, of Bath, in the Beck Motor Company
Street Trophy final. Rush, driving her '69
GTX, and a first time visitor to Oahe, took out 2005
Street Trophy champion, Alex Lindholm, of
Pierre, in the first round. She continued her
winning in the second round, when she defeated the
2007 and 2008 Street Trophy champion, Brennan Gray,
of Pierre. Sara Brusseau, of Pierre,
could not stop Rush in the semis, as the rookie
driver moved on to the finals. Winterberg was
able to get by Rush in the final, and solidify his
points lead in the class.
Stephanie
Holm, of Pierre, number two qualifier, in the
Snap On / McGaugh Trailer Repair High School class
and number one qualifier, Taryn Colson, of Blunt,
met in the class final. Holm used a better
reaction time to power her '94 Mustang through the
quarter-mile, for the win. Tyler Ehlers, of
Pierre, maintains the point lead over Holm, despite
losing to her in the semifinals.
Ashley
Holm, of Pierre, won the BankWest Junior Dragster
final, defeating Haley Hopf, of Ramona. Holm,
in her second final of the weekend, bettered her
Saturday runner up finish in the Junior Dragster
Shootout on Saturday. Holm stopped number one
qualifier, Jonathon Huse, of Onida, in the semis.
The Truck
'n Car Wash / Dominos Junior Gamblers race was won
by Kimberlee Geuther, of Fort Pierre. Geuther
defeated Alec Miller, of Fort Pierre.
Bryant
Fuchs, of Bowman, ND and Chad Uhrig, of Pierre,
faced off in the Gamblers final , with Uhrig taking
the win when Fuchs broke out at the finish line.

Chad Uhrig, of
Pierre, topped
all contenders in the Lynn's Dakotamart
Box Shootout , on
Saturday evening, at Oahe Speedway. Uhrig, in
his '96 Ford powered Spitzer dragster, took
the automatic win, when Curt Humann, of Pierre,
fouled away his chances , at the starting line.
In the heads up match, Uhrig pulled off great .008
reaction time, running very near his 8.40 dial in,
at 8.402 seconds. Number one qualifier,
Ken Standiford, of Midland, was beaten by Jeff
Friman, of Pierre, in the third round. Uhrig
dispatched Friman, in the semifinals, with another
great .012 reaction time. Through three rounds of
qualifying and five rounds of eliminations, Uhrig had a .015
reaction time average.
Number one and two Lynn's
Dakotamart No Box qualifiers mowed through the field to meet
on the finals. Jim Erickson, of Ortonville, MN, made
the long tow pay off, when he topped Larry Iversen, of
Pierre. Iversen broke out in the final, pushing his
'67 Chevelle a bit too hard, in attempting to chase down
Erickson's '88 Regal. Erickson singled in to the
finals and Tommy Dale Vines, of Eagle Butte, fell
victim to Iversen in the balance of the semis.
In the largest class of the
day, the Lynn's Dakotmart Trophy Shootout, second time
racer, at Oahe Speedway, Cal Belden, of Aberdeen, made it
two consecutive wins, defeating Mary O'Connor, of Fort
Pierre, in the final.
Belden won two weeks ago, in
his first visit to the Speedway. Doug Percy, of
Winner, number one qualifier, lost in the third round to
Toni Vetter, of Gettysburg. Vetter went to the
trailer, in the semis, when she fouled away the start,
against O'Connor. Belden got around Randy
Magilke, of Pierre, in their semi final match up.
Tucker Driscoll, of Watertown,
broke out, in the Lynn's Dakotmart Junior Dragster finals,
handing the win to Bonnie Fuchs, of Bowman, ND. Kali
Driscoll, of Watertown, was the number one qualifier,
with a quick .009 reaction time. Kali met up with her
brother, Tucker, in the quarter finals. Tucker took the win,
when Kali broke out, at the finish line. Fuchs,
defeated number two qualifier, Austin Mohr, of Mitchell, in
round one.
In the 2009 Mayors Challenge,
number one qualifier, Matt Semmler, representing
Highmore mayor, Vicki Day, ran his '09 Taurus,
pole to pole, to take the win. Joe Woitte, mayor
of Midland, lost to Semmler, in the final. Woitte' s
'96 Mustang went well under his index, breaking out in the
match.
Mayor Laurie Gill, of Pierre,
and Don DeVries, mayor of Hot
Springs, squared off in the consolation bracket, with
DeVries running closer to his dial in the final.
Woitte pulled off a perfect reaction time against Clyde
Pfeifle, mayor of Timber Lake, in the semi finals.
Dennis "Swede" Larson, mayor of Blunt, and Fran Van Bockel,
of Gettysburg, representing 2008 defending champion, Mayor
Jack Axsom, also participated.
The Bobcat/Morris Equipment LLC
sponsored, Midwest Wild Bunch, making its third appearance
at Oahe Speedway, ran three qualifying sessions on Saturday,
in preparation for Sunday's eliminations. Todd Bruce,
of Horace, ND, and Cary Shonley, of Mitchell, pulled off
identical .003 reaction times,
to top the field. Clif Bakx, of
Grunthal, Manitoba, Canada, set the Oahe Speedway elapsed
time record, in his final qualifying pass of the day.
Bakx pushed his rear engine dragster to a record setting,
6.529 seconds, in the quarter mile.
Coca Cola
Points Race #6

Midwest Wild Bunch

July 19, 2009
Coca Cola
Super Pro points leader, Rick Meier, of Box Elder met his
match in Chad Uhrig, of Pierre, in the final. Uhrig,
on a weekend tear of his own, defeated the red-hot Meier,
with a super .002 reaction time. Meier has lead the
points standings from the start of the year, and Uhrig , is
one of the few to top the Corvette driver. Meier
served notice, in round one of qualifying, that he came to
race, when he pulled off a lightning quick .001 reaction
time. To make sure the Super Pro crowd understood, he
came back a round later, to grab a perfect reaction time, to
ensure his number one qualifying spot. While Uhrig saved his
best reaction time for Meier, in the final, Meier saved one
of his worst reaction times of the day for the same
round. Meier will maintain his point lead over Sean
Billet, of Pierre, based on Billet's first round loss,
ironically, to Meier.
Tommy
Dale Vines, of Eagle Butte, and Stan "Butch" Monson, of
Groton, met in the Pro finals. Monson and Vines,
number one and number two qualifiers, number one and two
points leaders, Ford versus Chevy, East River/West River,
the match up was going to happen, sooner or later.
Monson was unable to catch
Vines in the final, with Vines "Bow-tie" handing Monson's
"Blue oval" the loss. Roger Anderson, of Pierre,
had the best reaction time of eliminations, with a .001 in
the first round., Unfortunately, Anderson's day was
done when he broke our against Steve Boke, of Gettysburg.
Boke would last only one more round, losing to Monson in the
third round.
In a battle of the Johnson's,
Wade Johnson, of Rapid City, and Stan Johnson, of Sioux
Falls, squared off in the finals. The West River
Johnson took the win, at the starting line, with a fast .007
reaction time. Wade padded his points lead, by virtue
of Stan Johnson's first round defeat of
Chris Boom, of Pierre. Derek
Wipf, of Huron, number one qualifier, met
Stan Johnson, in the semis.
Johnson clicked the win light to take the victory.
In her rookie year of Sportsman
Racing, Toni Vetter, of Gettysburg, picked up her first 2009
class trophy. Vetter, a veteran of the Junior Dragster
ranks, powered her '75 Mustang past Scott Romero, of Kadoka,
in the finals. Romero defeated Mary O'Connor, of Fort
Pierre, Saturday's Trophy Shootout runner up, in the second
round. O'Connor was the number one qualifier in the
class.
2007 and 2008 Beck Motor
Company Street Trophy Class Champion, Brennan Gray, of
Pierre, defeated rival, Ron Winterberg, of Timber
Lake, in the finals. Winterberg will maintain the
points lead, despite losing in the final. Second place
points runner, Randy Magilke, of Pierre, lost in the
first round. Chris Pigors, of Ferney, qualified number
one, only to meet up with Gray, in the first round.
Alyssa Colson, of Blunt, beat
newcomer, Matt Bogner, of Belle Fourche, in the Snap
On/McGaugh Trailer Repair High School finals. Bogner,
in his rookie year, fouled away his chance at the starting
line. Number one qualifier, Stephanie Holm, of Pierre,
will move in to second place, in the points, by virtue of
Taryn Colson's first round loss. Colson, of Blunt, is
in her rookie year of High School class racing, joining
sister, Alyssa, on the Colson Farms/Hirsch Landscaping/Kroeplin
Ag sponsored team.
Jonathon Huse, of Onida,
emerged as the winner of the BankWest Junior Dragster class
on Sunday afternoon. Huse beat Bonnie Fuchs, of
Bowman, ND, in the final. Fuchs took out number one
qualifier, Jonathan Geuther, of Fort Pierre, in the semis
and Huse denied another final round, to Tucker
Driscoll, of Watertown, in the balance of the round.
Driscoll was runner up in Saturday's Trophy Shootout.
Kimberlee Geuther, of Fort
Pierre, defeated Becki Fuchs, of Bowman, ND, in the
Truck n Car Wash/Dominos Junior Gamblers race.
Marcia Graves, of Pierre, and
Lyle Magorien, of Pierre, faced off in the
Gamblers final, with Magorien's
'93 Mustang topping Graves' '80 Mustang in the all Ford
final.
Todd Bruce, of Horace ND,
driving a blown alcohol,
23 T Altered, defeated Ray
Fuchs, of Bowman ND, in the Midwest Wild Bunch presented by
Bobcat/Morris Equipment LLC finals. Bruce and Cary
Shonley, of Mitchell, qualified number one with identical
.003 reaction times. Bruce drew the bye, in the uneven
field, for the first round. Shonley advanced to round
two and met Fuchs, with the North Dakota driver, taking the
win.

With a ton of help
from Nancy, we have posted results sheets for all our
weekend rounds of racing. Going forward, we will post
the results in this format. the previous format was an
extremely time consuming process.
To that end, we
were only listing quarter, semi and final results. Now
all rounds will be available. With that having been said,
please bear with us, as we are working through the data
base, to ensure correct spelling and data entry. As we
go forward, it is essential that we get as much accurate
information, as we can, on each and every tech card.
While we cannot go back and correct the posted sheets, we
can clear up future entries.

2009 National
Dragster Challenge
Saturday, August 1
The 5th annual running
of the National Dragster Challenge took place
at Oahe Speedway on Saturday. Great
weather and a visit from NHRA's
Bob Frey, the "voice"
of NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing, highlighted the
day. Frey was on site, along with Mike
Panic, videographer , to film the action for "Inside
Drag Racing". "Inside Drag Racing" is the
longest running, drag racing related, program on
television.
The National
Dragster Challenge rewards each class winner
with a replica "Wally " trophy. The highly
treasured t trophy is named after NHRA's late
founder, Wally Parks. Parks, who passed away
in 2007, created the National Hot Rod Association in
1951.
Super Pro stand out,
Rick Meier, of Box Elder, took the "Wally' in the
final, when Dale Garber, of Pierre, broke out at the
finish line. Meier ran 11.001, on his 11.00
dial in to take the win. Number one qualifier, Sean
Billet, of Pierre, fell to Garber in the third
round. Billet nailed down the number one
qualifying spot, with a perfect reaction time,
during the second round of qualifying.
In a 29 car field, Pro
took five rounds to decide the winner. Larry
Iversen took home his first "Wally", with a win
over, number one qualifier, Todd Casper, of Lake
Preston. Casper, returning to the speedway,
following a few weeks absence, fouled away his
chances at the starting line.
Bike/Snowmobile winner,
Charles Snyder, of Belle Fourche, took the win at
the starting line, when Ed Pope, of Pierre, became a
bit over anxious, and drew the red light. In a
twist of fate, Snyder avenged his 2007 National
Dragster Challenge final round loss to the
same sled. The 2007 champ, Allen Pope, Ed's
brother, rode the sled to that win. 2008
champ, Chris Boom, lost to Pope, in the first round.
Ann Hirsch, Oahe
Speedway's 2009 "King of the Track", almost took
home her second "Wally" of the season. In a
double break out final, Alyssa Colson, of
Blunt, ran closer to her dial in, taking the win at
the finish line.
Colson, number one
qualifier, defeated Wayne Schumacher, of Bismarck,
ND, in the semis, to advance to the final.
Street Trophy winner,
Bert Bogner, of Oral, took his third "Wally' , in
defeating, Robert Kuntz", of Thompson, ND, in their
final match up. Kuntz fouled away his chances,
when he left the starting line a bit too soon.
Having watched Bogner get nearly a 4.5 second head
start, Schumacher drew the red light and handed the
win to Bogner. Bogner took the class win in
the 2006 and 2007 Challenges.
Stephanie Holm, rookie
High School Class competitor snared her first
"Wally", with a win over Alyssa Colson. Colson,
competing in both High School and Sportsman classes,
was looking to double up on Saturday. Holm denied
the quest, with a great .016 reaction time, forcing
Colson to play catch up. Colson broke out , by
.054 seconds, at the stripe, to hand the win
over to Holm. Number one qualifier, Matt
Bogner, of Belle Fourche lost to Holm in the semi's.
Junior Dragster
competition was held in conjunction with the
National Dragster Challenge. The
Junior set will have their Junior Drag Racing League
Challenge on September 5th. The winner's
trophy went to Cody Ryckman, of Fort Pierre, in a
victory over Bonnie Fuchs, of Bowman, ND.
Jonathan Geuther, of
Fort Pierre, was the number one qualifier, losing in
the first round, when he red lit against Ashley
Holm, of Pierre.
Race number four of the
2009 Dale's A-1 Super Series was held on Saturday,
with Pat Conlin, of Fairview, MT, making his first
2009 visit to Oahe Speedway, a good one.
Conlin chased down Super Series race number three
winner, Bobi Legner, of Pierre, to take the win.
Lance Trujillo, of Gillette, WY, suffered a
heartbreaking loss in the second round, losing to
Kent Hagberg, of Spencer, NE, by the narrowest of
margins. Hagberg's front wheels passed over
the finish line only 2.98 inches ahead of the hard
charging Trujillo. The 2009 Super Series
champion will be crowned on September 5. Rick
Meier, of Box Elder, leads the points, through four
races, with Bobi Legner, sitting in second, and
Lance Trujillo, in third place.
Coca Cola Points Race #7
Sunday, August 2
Bobi Legner, of Pierre,
and Rick Meier, of Box Elder, met in the Super Pro
final , on Sunday, with Legner taking the win.
Legner put together a closer to dial in run, to
defeat Meier. Meier trailered number one
qualifier, Ken Standiford, of Midland, in the semis,
to advance to the finals. Meier
holds a seven round lead over Chad Uhrig, of
Pierre, in the 2009 Coca Cola Super Pro points
battle.
Todd Casper, of Lake
Preston, took the Pro title. with a win over number
one qualifier, Jerry Mooney, of Wall. Mooney
fouled at the starting line, drawing the crimson
bulb, by only .002 seconds. Bill Wright, of
Gettysburg,
took out current points
leader, Stan "Butch" Monson, of Groton in the second
round, only to meet a similar fate against Casper,
in the third round. Monson leads the Pro
class by a wide margin, with three races left in the
2009 season.
Motorcycle/ Snowmobile
finals paired the number one and two qualifiers,
with Wade Johnson, of Rapid City, emerging
victorious over Chris Boom, of Pierre. Number two
qualifier, Johnson, chased down Boom's Arctic Cat
ZR, taking the win with a .0017 margin of victory.
Johnson leads the 2009 points series race, with
Boom, in second place.
2008 Sportsman
Champion, Travis Falcon, of Pierre, defeated Alyssa
Colson, of Blunt, in the finals. Falcon,
having a good year, sits in second place, in the
2009 points standings. Tom Harms, of
Valentine, NE, leads the Sportsman class.
Colson, running two classes, in 2009, currently
holds down 8th place in Sportsman and third place in
the High School ranks.
Beck
Motor Company Street Trophy found Ron Winterberg, of
Timber Lake, and Chris Pigors, of Ferney, run for
the bragging rights. Number one qualifier, and
points leader, Winterberg, added to his trophy case,
when Pigors fouled on the starting line.
Tyler Ehlers, of Pierre, put in a late night thrash,
on Saturday, repairing a broken valve guide, in his
'67 Cougar. The current High School points
leader suffered mechanical breakage during Saturday
qualifying. Tyler's dad, Jason, spent the
evening tearing down the motor, finishing up after
2:00 am, on Sunday morning. The team returned
to the track before
9:00
am, on Sunday morning, qualified, and won the final,
over Matt Bogner, of Belle Fourche.
Austin Mohr, of Mitchell, and James Morris, of
Pierre, met in the Bank West Junior Dragster final.
Morris fouled away his chance at the starting line,
giving Mohr his first win at Oahe Speedway.
Number one qualifier, Kimberlee Geuther, of Fort
Pierre, lost in round two, to Cody Ryckman, of Fort
Pierre. Current points leader, Ashley Holm, of
Pierre, lost to Bonnie Fuchs, of Bowman, ND, in the
first round.

Oahe Speedway Shootouts
August 15, 2009
Despite the weather forecasts, Oahe Speedway hosted
a great field of competitors on Saturday.
Early morning clouds gave way to a beautiful
afternoon of racing at the speedway.
Chad Uhrig,
of Pierre, marched through the Oahe Speedway Box Shootout
field, to take the win, over David Rae, of Gillette, WY.
Uhrig was unopposed, when Rae was unable to make the final
call, due to mechanical difficulties. Saving the best
for last, Uhrig pulled off a perfect light, in his single
run, for the cash. Number one qualifier, Sean Billet, of
Pierre, was eliminated by the red-hot Uhrig, in the
second round. Uhrig snared a .006 reaction time,
coupled with a run just .002 off his dial in, to trailer
Billet, for the day.
Shannon
DePoy, of Lantry, took the day off, from harvesting, and
made the trip to Oahe. The DePoy's brought along their
harvest crew as support, and
truly
entertained their guests. The crew, with workers from
England and Scotland, was introduced to NHRA drag racing,
Oahe Speedway style.
To cap the
day, DePoy won the Oahe Speedway No Box Shootout final, over
Todd Casper, of Lake Preston. Casper met number
one qualifier, Eric Feucht, of Canton, in the second round.
Feucht, a first time visitor to Oahe, was a bit too anxious
at the starting line, drawing the red bulb.
A twenty
eight car Trophy Shootout field narrowed to Shawn England
and Brian Brady, both of Pierre. England, back on his
'06 Hyabusa, pulled off a better reaction time, to take the
win over Brady, in his '86 Regal. Had Brady's reaction
time been a bit better, coupled with his perfect dial
in run, the outcome may have been different. Brady ran
11.890 on an 11.89 dial in. Charles "Ninja" Snyder, of
Belle Fourche, number one qualifier, tossed away his
chance, with a red light against England, in the semifinals.
Bonnie
Fuchs, of Bowman, ND, and Cody Ryckman, of Fort Pierre,
paired off in the Junior Dragster final. Fuchs took
the win, when Ryckman ran under her dial in. Fuchs
beat number one qualifier, Kimberlee Geuther, of Fort
Pierre, in round one.
Ann Hirsch,
of Pierre, took the Gamblers win over Mark Yardley, of
Gordon , NE. Yardley, a first time visitor to Oahe
Speedway, broke out by just .009 seconds, against Hirsch.
Coca Cola
Points Race #8
August
16 , 2009
The overcast
skies, of Saturday, gave way to one of the best weather days
of the season, on Sunday. The Coca Cola Points Series
is heading into the final stretch, with completion of the
eighth race of the 2009 season.
Curt Humann,
of Pierre, went polo to pole, to win the Coca Cola Super Pro
final against newcomer, Darin Cranny, of Plankinton.
Cranny, making his first appearance, at Oahe, fouled away
his chances at the starting line, against Humann, in the
final. Human took out Rick Meier, current points
leader, in the semis. With Sunday's win, Humann moves
into a tie for second place, with Chad Uhrig, of Pierre.
Saturday's
No Box Shootout number one qualifier, Eric Feucht, of
Canton, avenged his early round loss, and took the Coca Cola
Pro final, on Sunday.
Feucht, in
his '68 Chevelle, used a better reaction time to defeat the
'81 Malibu, driven by Paul Berger, of Pierre.
Bob Swart, of Mitchell, defeated number one qualifier, Tommy
Dale Vines, of Eagle Butte, in the second round. Swart
fell victim to Feucht, in the semis. Stan "
Butch" Monson, of Groton, leads the Coca Cola Pro
Points Series over Vines. Monson lost in the first
round, against Roger Hanson, of Pierre.
Wade
Johnson, of Rapid City, took the number one qualifying spot,
in the Coca Cola Motorcycle/Snowmobile class, and never
looked back. Johnson, on his '83 Suzuki chased down
Chris Boom , of Pierre, in the final. In the
double break out final, Johnson ran closer to his dial in,
to take the win. Johnson maintains a sizeable lead
over Boom, in the 2009 points series, going into the final
two races of the series.
Travis
Falcon, of Pierre, moved into the points lead, with a win
over Jarrod Feucht, of Canton, in the Coca Cola Sportsman
final. Falcon, number one qualifier, got around Tom
Harms, of Valentine, NE, in the semifinals. Harms
falls to second place, in the points standings, just a
single point behind Falcon. The Feucht family brought
two immaculately prepared '70's Novas and a wicked '68
Chevelle to Oahe Speedway. Jarrod and Eric's sister,
Jessi, drove her '75 Nova to the second round, losing to
Todd Sell, of Langford.
Alan Vetter,
of Gettysburg, took the win over Dolly Rush, of Bath, in the
Beck Motor Company Street Trophy final. Rush broke out
in the final run, handing the win to Vetter and his '73
Mustang convertible. Rush, driving a '69
GTX, owned by Travis Olson, and a rookie in the class,
picked up her second runner up finish of the year. Ron
Winterberg, of Timber Lake, holds the points lead over Randy
Magilke, of Pierre.
Tyler Ehlers
padded his Snap-On/McGaugh Trailer Repair High School Class
point lead with a win over Taryn Colson, of Blunt, in
the final. Colson moved into second place, with her
runner up finish, on Sunday. Colson, number one
qualifier, leads third place Stephanie Holm, of Pierre by 98
points.
BankWest
Junior Dragster winner ,Haley Hopf, of Ramona, left first,
on her slower dial in, and forced Bonne Fuchs, of Bowman,
ND, to run her down. Fuchs tried just a bit too hard
and broke out in the final. Hopf beat number one
qualifier, Kimberlee Geuther, of Fort Pierre, in the second
round. Hopf continued taking no prisoners, defeating
current points leader,
Ashley Holm
, in the semis.
The Truck 'n
Car Wash/Domino's Junior Gamblers final went to Cody
Ryckman, of Fort Pierre, over Austin Mohr, of Mitchell.
Father and
son, Gary and Josh Buer, of Lake Preston, met in the
Gambler finals, with the younger Bauer taking the measure of
his dad. This was the first, final pairing of
the duo, ever, with the elder Bauer taking it in
stride, saying, "there is always next time!".

Plans are underway for our season ending banquet,
on November 21, 2009 at the the Ramkota Convention Centre,

The 2010 schedule is being finalized and will be

great 2009, and we look forward to 2010, our sixth season of

Oahe Speedway's 2009
Class Champions to be honored
at Season Ending Banquet
Monday, November 16, 2009
The
Ramkota River Center will host the 2009 Oahe
Speedway Awards Ceremony on Saturday, November 21.
The evening kicks off with a social hour at 5pm,
dinner to follow at 6pm and the awards ceremony
taking place at 7pm.
Rick
Meier, of Box Elder, will be named the 2009 Dale's
A-1 Transmission Super Series Champion. Meier
took an early lead, in the 2009 series, and was
never headed, as he ran toward his first championship
in the competition which combines the NHRA classes
of Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street.
Meier piloted his '84 Corvette, to one win and two
runners up in the
five race series. Bobi Legner, of Pierre, took
second place with one win, and a runner up finish, in
her '67 Chevelle. David Rae, of Gillette, WY,
won the final race of the series, placing third.
Randy Nygaard, of Watertown and Lance Trujillo, of
Gillette, WY, tied for fourth place, with 2008 series
champion, Doug Legner, of Pierre, rounding out the
top five.
The ten race Coca Cola
Super Pro series came down to a battle between Curt
Humann, of Pierre, and the aforementioned, Rick
Meier.
Meier prevailed in this
competitive class, and will take home his second
2009 Oahe speedway class championship. Going
into the final points race of the season, Humann
still had a mathematical chance of over taking
Meier, who lost in the first round. Unfortunately,
for Humann, he was unable to make up enough ground
on the final day.
Meier won only one
points series race, but with three runners up, he
was able to take the championship. The ten
race series saw eight different winners, with
Humann and Sean Billet, of Pierre taking two
apiece. Chad Uhrig, of Pierre finished in
third
place, with Billet taking the fourth spot.
Bryant Fuchs, of Bowman, ND, in his first dedicated
season at Oahe Speedway, settled in to the top five,
in the Fuchs family- owned rear engine dragster.
With the exception of Meier's "door" car, the remainder of the top
five were all rear engine dragsters.
Stan "Butch" Monson will
take his second consecutive
Coca Cola Pro series
title back home to Groton, SD. With only one
first round loss, three wins and two runners up,
Monson, and his '69 Mustang fastback, served notice
that he was serious about defending his 2008 title.
Tommy Dale Vines, of Eagle Butte, finished in second
place, with one win and a runner up showing, to stay
within striking
distance. Darcy
Madsen, of Rapid City, trailed Vines by just over one
round win, in the final standing, taking third place.
While not winning a race, fourth place Steve Boke,
of Gettysburg, took a runner up finish in the
ninth race of the series, with fellow Gettysburg
runner, Bill Wright, taking fifth place, a scant one
round win behind. The class, averaging 30 cars
per race, saw five rounds of racing in eight
of ten contested. Two of the races needed six
rounds to determine the days winner.
Coca Cola
Bike/Snowmobile class Champion Wade Johnson,
dominated the class from race one. The 2005
Bike class Champion returned to Oahe Speedway full
time, in 2009, set on taking the championship.
Johnson won six races and took two runners up, to
walk away with the trophy. Defending champion,
Chris Boom, of Pierre, winning two races, was unable to
stay up with the red -hot Johnson, settling for the
season's runner up title. Ed Pope, of
Pierre, beat Johnson in race number five, to
finish behind Boom. Shawn England,
with mechanical woes sidelining his '06 Hyabusa for a
few races, still managed to win twice, placing
fourth in the season long battle. Jason Kotz,
of Pierre, rode his Suzuki Katana fifth place
honors.
Travis Falcon, defending
2008 Coca Cola Sportsman Champion, will repeat in
2009. he talented Pierre driver battled with
Tom Harms, of Valentine, NE, and Tyler Ehlers, of
Pierre, for most of the season. Although Harms
did not win a race during the season, and had two
runners up, he was able to go deep into elimination
rounds consistently. That consistency put
Harms into second place on the final standings.
Tyler Ehlers, the 2008 High School champion, moved
up to Sportsman, placed third. Derek Gray, of
Pierre, took fourth place in the series. Gray,
in five seasons of racing, has never finished out
of the top six. Doug Percy, of Winner,
lost only two first round races all year, and based
on round wins, was able to drive his Malibu to
fifth place in the class.
Beck Motor Company
sponsored Street Trophy class champion,
Ron Winterberg, of
Timber Lake, lost in the first round of
competition, on May 3rd, and came back to win the
second race of the series. Winterberg would go
on to win two more points races, and took two
runners-up, to win his first Oahe Speedway class
championship. Karen England, of Pierre, drover her
Mustang to two wins, and a runner up finish, to
claim second place. Christopher Pigors, of Ferney,
made the long tow from northeast South Dakota pay
off in a third place showing. Brennan Gray,
2007 and 2008 defending champion, with one win in
mid summer, claimed fourth place. Randy
Magilke, of Pierre, trailed Gray by just under 3
round wins, to take home fifth place honors.
Tyler Ehlers, of Pierre,
will repeat as the 2009 Snap On / McGaugh Trailer
Repair class champion. Despite winning five
races during the summer long series, Ehlers was
never able to shake Stephanie Holm, of Pierre.
Holm finished in second place, barely a round win
behind Ehlers. Holm, moving up from the
BankWest Junior Dragster ranks, was competing in her
first year of "door" car racing. Sisters Taryn
and Alyssa Colson, of Blunt, finished fourth and
fifth, respectively. Rookie Taryn won one series
race, with Alyssa winning
twice. Sonnie
Boke, of Gettysburg, took a runner up finish in race
two, and finished fifth in the points.
Ashley Holm, of Pierre,
and Bonnie Fuchs, of Bowman, ND, will become Oahe
Speedway's first class co-champions. The
BankWest Junior Dragster series came down to the
final round of the season to determine the class
champions. Holm, with three wins and a runner
up, was followed closely by Fuchs. Fuchs
consistency kept her within striking distance.
The final tally shows a dead even finish for both
drivers. In this case, the perfect attendance
bonus had no effect on the outcome, with both having
attended all ten races in the series. Jonathon Huse,
of Onida, took sole possession of second place, with
one win in mid season. Huse placed in the semi
finals in several races.
James Morris, of Pierre,
was unable to four-peat in 2009. Morris,
defending 2006-07-08
champion, won one race and had one runner up finish,
to take third place in the standings. Noah Miller,
of Fort Pierre, competing in his first full season,
took one win and one runner up finish to the fourth
position in the competitive class. Kimberlee
Geuther, of Fort Pierre, claims fifth position in
the series for 2009.
Oahe Speedway, located
14 mile north of Pierre, just off SD Hwy 1804, is
South Dakota's only 1/4 mile National Hot Rod
Association sanctioned drag strip. The track
will begin its sixth season of operation in mid
April 2010.
2010 Lot Rental Letters
Have Been Mailed
Friday, December 11, 2009
Rental renewal letters have
been mailed to all current site holders. The current
renters
will have until January 31, 2010 to respond, thereafter, we
will start working on our waitlist, to fill all available
sites. The rental rate
has not changed for 2010.
Water, sewer and 30 amp service is available on those sites
located next to the fence. The rental rate for 2010
will
remain at $425.00 for the year.
For those awaiting
the addition of power to the first grass row, we are working
on that project, and should have details available after the
first of the year. It is our intent to have at least ten
sites available for rent for the 2010 season. These
sites will have 20 amp service available and will
not
have water or sewer access. Since this area is located
in the pit grass area, we will not allow any long term
parking or any
vehicles parked on
the sites between racing weekends. This will be
enforced, in order to allow for mowing and watering of the
areas.
The yearly rental
rate has not been determined, and we have a list of
potential renters on file. If you would like to be
added to that list, please
let the speedway office know.
