Oahe Speedway Honors

2010 Season Champions

Monday, November 8, 2010

Oahe Speedway crowned  2010 points series champions on Saturday night .

The annual  event was attended by a large group of racers , families, and friends of the speedway.

Jonathan Huse, 2010 Oahe Speedway Coca Cola Junior Dragster Minor class champion

with Milton Morris, Oahe Speedway track owner

Jonathan Huse, of Onida was awarded the first "rock" of the evening, for his first place finish in the Oahe Speedway Coca Cola Junior Dragster Minor division.   The rock trophy, specially created by Dakota Classique Rock, is a time honored tradition at Oahe Speedway.  Huse became the first champion of the newly created Junior Dragster Minor class, in 2010.  The class was specifically set up for racers aged 8-12, allowing participants an opportunity to hone their skills, before moving on to the Major ranks.  Kimberlee Geuther, of Fort Pierre, placed second, in the season long battle, just 102 points behind Huse.  Cody Ryckman, losing only one first round match all season, took home third place honors. Jonathan Geuther, of Fort Pierre, had a final round win over his sister, Kimberlee, in midseason, and went on to secure fourth place in the standings.  Rounding out the top five, Kali Driscoll, of Watertown, took the NHRA Junior Drag Racing League Challenge "Wally", in early September.

James Morris , 2010 Oahe Speedway Coca Cola BankWest Junior Dragster Major class champion

In four of the five years that Oahe Speedway has honored Junior Dragster champions, James Morris, of Pierre, has taken the trophy.  Not to be denied, in his final year of eligibility, Morris finished the equivalent of 11 rounds ahead of second place, in the 2010 Oahe Speedway Coca Cola BankWest Junior Dragster Major division.  With 6 wins, Morris, dominated the class.  In addition, Morris won two key, non-points, races, July's Junior Jam and the Junior Drag Racing Challenge Major division, in September.  Morris was the

recipient of the Motor Race Images Perfect Light Championship, with three perfect Lights attained

during the season.     Ashley Holm, 2009 BankWest Junior Dragster co-champion,  placed second.  Holm, also in her final year of Junior Dragster competition, will move on to a  big car for  the 2011 campaign.  Rookie Kendra Kimball, of Rapid City, started off her year with two class wins and continued consistent performances, to finish in third place.  Dad Ken parked his classic El Camino Sportsman entry, in order to concentrate his efforts on Kendra's Junior.  Carly Jo Ellingson, of Rapid City, took fourth place honors,  with two wins during the season.  Ellingson, 2010 Junior Dragster class champion at Sturgis Dragways, also won the 15 year old category at the Western Conference NHRA Junior Drag Racing League finals, at Denver, in July,   Bonnie Fuchs, of Bowman, ND, 2009 Oahe Speedway Junior Dragster co-champion, completed her Junior Drag racing career, in fifth place.  Fuchs will move on to a Super Pro Camaro in 2011.

Taryn Colson , 2010 Oahe Speedway Coca Cola Snap On High School class champion

Taryn Colson, of Blunt, took wins in races one, three, five, nine and ten and with a runner-up finish in points race six, took the 2010 Coca Cola Snap On High School championship.  Along the way, Colson took the 2010 National Dragster Challenge High School "Wally" home to Blunt.   Matt Bogner, of Belle Fourche, finished  behind Colson.  Winning two points races, Bogner was also the South Dakota Drag Racing State High School Championship runner up.   Stephanie Holm, of Pierre, won points race number eight and was runner up in three other finals, gaining enough points to complete the season in third place.   Toni Vetter, of Gettysburg, finished 102 points behind Holm.  Vetter became the first South Dakota Drag Racing State High School champion, winning the class in early September.   Nick Wright, of Gettysburg, completed the top five High School finishers.  Wright claimed a victory in points race number four.

Karen England , 2010 Oahe Speedway Coca Cola Street Trophy class champion

Karen England, 2010 Oahe Speedway Coca Cola Street Trophy champion, began her season in one Mustang, and finished in another.  The car switch was not by choice, when England tagged the wall early in the season.  Taking a couple weeks to replace the wounded Mustang, England came back to take the championship, based on three wins and 3 runner-up finishes.  In recognition of her on track incident in May, England was awarded the "I Hope Nobody Saw That " award. Duane Soper, of Gettysburg, placed second in the category, with two wins.  Soper added a "Wally" to his trophy case, with a win in the 2010 National Dragster Challenge Street Trophy race.  Ron Winterberg, of Timber Lake, 2009 Street Trophy champion placed third, with  one win and two runners up finishes. Joe McCarthy, of Newport, NE, made the long haul to Oahe Speedway, winning races number one and seven, to take 4th place in the standings.  Mark McCue, of  Spearfish, completed the season, in fifth place.

Carl Morris , 2010 Oahe Speedway Coca Cola Sportsman class champion

Carl Morris, of Pierre, missed  one points race, and paired that  with no first round losses, to take the 2010 Coca Cola Sportsman title.  Morris, the 2006 High School champion, took three race wins to the championship.   Morris moved into first place after race number four, and never relinquished the lead.  Doug Percy, of Winner, took second place, with consistent finishes, despite not winning any points races.  Percy had great success in the Saturday Shootouts, winning three races during the season.  Ann Hirsch, of Pierre, won points race number one and garnered two runners-up, the balance of the season, for third place.   In a very competitive bracket, Hirsch was able to place her '66 Biscayne wagon in the closing rounds on several occasions.   Brian Brady, 2010 100 MPH club champion, finished 3 points behind Hirsch, taking fourth place.   Tyler Ehlers, moving up from the High School ranks, in 2010, took fifth place.  Ehlers also took a Half Track Attack win in early July.

Charles "Ninja Charlie" Snyder, 2010 Oahe Speedway Coca Cola

Dakota Motor Sports LLC Bike class champion

2010 Coca Cola Dakota Motor Sports LLC Bike Champion, Charles "Ninja Charlie" Snyder, of Belle Fourche, served notice early in the season that he would be a force to be reckoned with.  Winning 6 points races and taking the 2010 South Dakota Drag Racing State Bike Championship, Snyder cruised to the championship.  Snyder, 2006 Oahe Speedway Bike champion, also took the Bike title at Sturgis Dragway this season.    Chris Boom, of Pierre, the 2007 and 2008 Bike champion won two points races along with two runners-up finishes.  Boom survived six rounds of competition, to take the National Open No Box Shootout, on September 25.   Shawn England, of Pierre,  went rounds on most every weekend, to accumulate third place points in 2010.

Randy Nixon, 2010 Oahe Speedway Coca Cola Pro ET class champion

Pro ET 2010 Coca Cola champion, Randy Nixon, rode his Yamaha drag bike to the title in a class normally populated conventional race cars and trucks.  The cagey veteran, of many years in the sport, took the rock home with two wins, three runners-up and only one first round loss all summer.   Nixon also won the 2010 National Dragster Challenge Bike "Wally".  Along the way, Nixon collected two perfect lights during the season.   Larry Iversen, of Pierre, missing one points race during the season, could have taken the championship away from Nixon.  By missing a key race, Iversen actually lost the 2010 championship by 97 points, the bonus of 100 points for perfect attendance tilting the win to Nixon.  Iversen garnered 3 wins and a runner up finish in race nine.   Once again, Iversen was a consistent performer, losing only once in the first round.  In a class where it was common to have to go five and six rounds for the win,  both Iversen and Nixon stayed in the hunt until the final race of the season.  Darcy Madsen, of Rapid City, coming off a third finish in 2009, remained in the same position, for 2010.  Madsen closed out the 2010 season with two wins.  Tommy Dale Vines, of Eagle Butte, won a points race on his way to a fourth place finish.  Vines finished in the runner up position in 2009.    Jason Ehlers, of Pierre, ended the season in fifth place, winning points race number 5 on July 4th.  Ehlers, 2005 Inaugural Pro ET champion, consistently went rounds, to take the top five position.

Curt Humann, 2010 Oahe Speedway Coca Cola Super Pro class champion

Curt Humann, of Pierre, took the 2010 Coca Cola Super Pro points championship in convincing fashion. With four wins and two semifinal finishes, Humann dominated the class.  Along the way he gathered three Saturday Shootouts,. non points races, but still good practice for a Sunday win.    Humann also  won his first Aerospace Components King off the Track  "Wally", in mid May.    As the track Super pro Champion, Humann qualified for the Race of Champions at the 2010 Division 5 ET Finals, at Topeka.  Humann faced a tough 19 car field, taking a runner up finish.   David Rae, of Gillette, WY, placed second, just over 9 round wins behind Humann.  Rae, a regular competitor at Oahe Speedway, won one points race and had two runners up finishes.   Rae experimented with a couple different motor combinations during the 2010 season.   Dale Garber, of Pierre, while not winning a points race in 2010, still finished in third place.  Garber had a fairy tale season, winging two "Wally's"  this past summer.   He won the National Dragster Challenge in July and took the Super Pro title during the South Dakota Drag Racing State Championships, in August.  Garber saved his best performances for the National Open weekend, winning four races, in four different classes, the Kroeplin Ag Box Shootout and Dave's' Scrap Metal Super Group Shootout on September 25th and turning right around and winning the NHRA Super Comp title and Oahe Speedway's Super Pro class on the 26th.    2006 and 2007 Pro ET Champion, Ken Standiford., of Midland, moved to Super Pro for the 2009 season, hit his stride in 2010, placing fourth in points.  Bryant Fuchs, of Bowman, ND, closed our the 2010 season in fifth place, 99 points behind Standiford.  Fuchs, running the family rear engine dragster, shares pit space with his sister's two junior dragsters, and Dad's Wild Bunch big block, blown Camaro.   Mom Mary can  be found running the dragster in most Saturday Shootouts.

Fall Finale Weekend Results

October 9-10, 2010

Saturday, October 9

Saturday morning's showers, while brief, still caused a two hour delay in the start of the final races of the 2010 season, at Oahe Speedway.  As the clouds disappeared, some of the best racing of the season ensued.  168 racers signed in the back gate, to compete in the Becky Hopf Memorial Race, a race organized to remember Becky Hopf, who lost her life in an automobile accident in mid July.

Box Shootout finals paired Greg Thompson, of Bruce and Dustin Long, of Mitchell.

Thompson utilized a wicked quick  .005 reaction time to outrun Long for the title.  Number one qualifier, Rick Meier, of Rapid City, broke out in the first round against Thompson.  Long recorded the fastest speed of eliminations, 183.59, against Thompson, in the finals.  Of special note,  Dale Garber, of Pierre, turned up the wick, in test and tune, clocking a 7.061 run, at 191.48 MPH, easily the quickest run of the weekend.

No Box Shootout winner, Brandon Dunachek, of Mission Hill, defeated Paul Berger, of Pierre, in the finals.  Both drivers had survived six rounds of competition, prior to meeting in the finals.  Round one began with 67 cars making the first call.  Number one qualifier, Travis Falcon ran right on his 12.09  dial in during his first round bye.  Falcon would go on to lose in the third round.

Doug Percy, of Winner, took the Trophy Shootout title, over Jerrad Hopper, of Huron.  Percy, with the better reaction time, took the win at the stripe when Hopper broke out.

Number one qualifier, Jamie Durham, of  Watertown, finished his day in the third round, losing to Hopper.

Carly Ellingson, of Rapid City, defeated number one qualifier, Austin Mohr, of Mitchell, in the final.  Ellingson, capitalizing on a better reaction time, drove around Mohr, for the win.

The third annual Gator's 100 MPH Challenge, was won by Brian Brady, of Pierre.  The class is made up of competitors from Sportsman, Bike, Street Trophy, and High School classes.  Each entrant must have run at least 100 MPH during selected qualifying days, throughout the 2010 season.  A total of 72 drivers qualified for the 2010 runoff. Brady, a Sportsman class driver, squared off with Alan Vetter, Street Trophy competitor,  of Gettysburg, with Brady taking the win when Vetter broke out.

The Final race of the day, the Becky Hopf Memorial Challenge, matched up Box Winner, Greg Thompson, and No Box Champ, Brandon Dunachek.   Thompson broke out by .002 seconds at the finish line, giving Dunachek the final win of the day.

The entire Hopf family and Oahe Speedway thank all the racers and fans who gathered to honor Becky.

Fall Finale

Sunday, October 10

Oahe Speedway's 2010 season closed out on a warm, sunny fall day on Sunday.  In the five previous closing weekends, the speedway has never had two nicer closing days.

Number one and two finishers in the 2010 Coca Cola Super Pro points race met in the season's Fall Finale, with David Rae, of Gillette, WY, getting the best of Curt Humann, of Pierre.  Humann, the 2010 champion, red lit his chances away, in the final.  Justin Roetman, of Vermillion,  qualified number one, and lasted until round two, meeting up with Gary Buer, of Lake Preston.  Buer got the best of Roetman,  advancing to the semifinals before losing to Humann.   Garber, once again, posted the fastest speed of eliminations, 182.70 MPH.  No to be outdone, Joe Wolf of

Pierre,  made the final test and tune pass of the day a good one.  Driving his newly acquired, former Dustin Long RED, Wolf pushed the top speed of the day to 183.48 MPH.  Long  won the Super Comp title at the NHRA O'Reilly Auto Parts

Nationals at Topeka, KS, earlier this summer, in this car.  Wolf downplayed the feat, saying "it didn't feel much different than my old car", but with a grin pondered, "wonder how fast it will go with a little nitrous".  Time will tell.

In another huge field, 43 Pro cars made first call, and after 5 rounds, Randy Compson, of Valley City, ND, and Carl Stickney, of Watertown, paired off for the final.  Compson watched Stickney's '72 Maverick draw the red bulb, at the starting line.

Completing a trifecta in the 2010 season, Compson won three races at Oahe Speedway in three different Mopars.  He started the month of September , with a win in his immaculate '68 Barracuda, followed up three weeks later, winning with his '68 Dodge Dart, and closing out the trifecta with a win in another Mopar from the Compson stable, a '73 Plymouth Duster.   In all, four Compson family members competed over the weekend.  Randy's cousins, Marty, of Pierre, Greg and Chris, of Sioux, all driving Mopars, were at the track. Number one qualifier, with a perfect light, Chris Huse, of Onida, lost to Mike Verba, of Sioux Falls, in round three.

Bike class finals paired Brian Wilkening, of Buffalo, WY, and Don Gurnon, of Huron, with Wilkening emerging victorious.  Gurnon fouled away his chance at the win on the staring line.  Rodney Hopf, of Ramona, aboard a newly acquired  '08 Yamaha drag bike, qualified number one.  Hopf would lose to Troy Behlings, of Volga, on a break at the finish line.   Behlings went red in the semis, advancing Gurnon to the final.

Sportsman winner, Doug Percy, of Winner, doubled up on the weekend, defeating James Morris, of Pierre, In the final.  Morris,  2010 Coca Cola BankWest Junior Dragster champion, driving brother Carl's, 2010 Sportsman Class Championship winning '71 Cheyenne, was unable to hold off the hard charging Percy.  Morris has completed his Junior Dragster career, with four championships in class.

Brandon Campbell, of Pierre, defeated Jeff Otto, of Watertown, in the Street Trophy final.  Otto, driving a Wieand blower driven, small block '68 Pontiac GTO, broke out by .003 seconds at the finish line.  Campbell had qualified number one.

Austin Mohr, avenged his Saturday loss to Carly Ellingson, in the Junior Dragster final.  Ellingson pushed  just a bit too hard, in an attempt to catch Mohr, breaking out by just .003 seconds at the finish line.  Number one qualifier, Stacey Hopf, of Madison, lost to Ellingson, in round one.

Oahe Speedway Half Track Attack, an 1/8th mile competition, was won by Dallas Woertink, of Watertown.  Woertink defeated David Gloe, of Strandburg, SD, in the final.

Fort Pierre Junior Dragster Minor class racers, Cody Ryckman and Kimberlee Geuther, ran off the final, with Ryckman running closer to her dial in, to take the win.

Geuther qualified number one in class.

On a beautiful, sunny autumn day, Oahe Speedway closed out its sixth year of operation.  As we look forward to the 2011 season, track owner, Milton Morris, and the entire Oahe Speedway staff thank all the racers and fans for a safe and competitive season at the "Dam Fast Track" .  The speedway hosted racers from South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, Florida, Virginia, and the Canadian Provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan.    Les Feist, of Clearwater, MN, pushed our

Top Speed to 203.02 MPH, in July.   Our first annual "Junior Jam" and our "Old Skool Drags" were a success, and we look forward to planning  the 2011 season.

Stay tuned, it's gonna be big!!

CHS Midwest Cooperatives/Cenex Lubricants NHRA Division 5 National Open Results

September 25-26, 2010

Saturday, September 25, 2010

Dale Garber, of Pierre, served notice early on Saturday, that he would be a force to be reckoned with.  Garber took the CHS Midwest Cooperatives/Cenex Lubricants Box Shootout, over Steve Schmidt, of Sheridan, WY.  Schmidt, normally running NHRA Top Dragster, was making his first visit to Oahe Speedway.  Pat Conlin, of Fairview, MT, was unable to make good on his number one qualifying slot, withdrawing from competition with mechanical difficulties prior to eliminations.

In five round of competition, Garber was never more than .018 seconds

off his 9.00 dial in.

CHS  No Box Shootout winner, Randy Compson, of Valley City, ND,  chose dad Ralph's '68 Dart Sport, for competition on Saturday, and emerged victorious over Chris Boom, of Pierre.  Boom,

running his 01 Arctic Cat ZR, ran further under his dial in to give the win to Compson, at the stripe.   Boom trailered number one qualifier, Tracy Battest, of Aberdeen, in the second round.

Another Aberdeen racer, Jon Dallman, took the CHS Trophy Shoot title, taking the win at the start when Joe Trusty, of Rapid City, broke at the line.  Kevin Carroll, of Pierre, suffering motor woes in his

Mustang earlier this season, took his S10 pickup to the number one qualifying spot.  Ray Royer, of Rapid City,  eliminated Carroll in the third round, and suffered a similar fate against Trusty, in round three.

Stacey Hopf, of Madison, won the CHS Jr Dragster Shootout, taking out Cody Ryckman,

of Fort Pierre, in the final.  Hopf squeaked out the win by .005 seconds at the finish line. Hopf's margin of victory was 6.449 inches at the stripe.  Austin Mohr, of Mitchell, qualified number one and lost in the first found, to Zach Zebroski, of Pierre.

Dale Garber topped off his day with a win in the Dave's Scrap Metal Super Group Shootout.  In a shootout combining the NHRA Super classes, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street,

Garber met Dennis  White, of Manitoba, Canada, in the final.  Despite a great .014 light, White

was not able to hold off Garber, at the finish line.

Doug Engels, of Watertown and Rick Ryan , of Aberdeen, met in the Aaron Koppien Memorial Stock/Super Stock final, with Engels taking the win, in his  GT/GA '92 Cierra.

Ryan's SS/NA '83 Cutlass, was the number one qualifier.

The 2010 Draggin' for Pinks race, benefitting the Countryside Hospice bed and Breakfast program,

was won by Paula Duncan of Midland.  The 44 car field narrowed to Duncan and Sonnie Boke, of Gettysburg. with Duncan taking the win.

Saturday, September 25, 2010

Sunday featured the 6th running of the CHS Midwest Cooperatives/Cenex Lubricants NHRA Division 5 National Open. The weatherman cooperated, giving the speedway the best, ever,

 weather for the Open.

Stock/Super Stock action led off the program, with Curt Hieb, of Chamberlain taking the title with a win over Rick Ryan., of Aberdeen.  Hieb, driving his immaculate E/SA '98 Firebird, took the stripe . 002 seconds ahead of Ryan,

a calculated distance of 4.061 inches.  Number one qualifier, Gene Bichelmeier, of Norfolk, NE, withdrew from competition, in favor of a tear down, to verify a new GT/I national record run.  Bichelmeier unofficially set the record with a 10.117 second pass

in qualifying.  Wayne Denklau, of Wayne NE, also set an unofficial record in SS/K , at 10.408 seconds.  Both records were set at an adjusted 1700' altitude, and should be certified by mid week.

In his third victory of the weekend, Dale Garber topped all challengers in his '03 Worthy dragster.  Donna Patterson, of Lorette, MB, Canada, tossed the win to Garber at the starting line.  Patterson, .016 too quick at the green, would have been challenged by Garber's superb.004 reaction time.  Saving his worst ET for the final, Garber ran 9.025 on his 9.00 dial in. Patterson's 9.124 was her slowest run of the day. Dustin Long, of Mitchell, had a perfect reaction time, in qualifying, to take the number one spot.  Long would red light against Garber in the semis.

Randy Nygaard, of Watertown, and Lance Trujillo, of Gillette, WY paired up in the Super Gas final, with Nygaard taking the win at the starting line. Trujillo was a bit over anxious, drawing the red bulb by .006 seconds, negating his number one qualifying effort.

The Super Street final came down to Dennis McBride, of Ainsworth, NE, and Jeff Crooks, of Brandon, MB.  McBride pulled off a great .013 light, and  paired it with run just .001 off his 11.00 dial in.  Crooks had trouble at the starting line, and was not a factor.

Adding to his winners share, Dale Garber finished off the weekend with another win in Super Pro.  Garber met Bryant Fuchs, of Bowman, ND, in the final.  Fuchs snared a super quick .004 light at the start, but lost the race at the finish line, breaking out by a greater margin than Garber. Garber ran .007 under his 9.00 dial in, with Fuchs breaking out by .036 seconds.

Another first time visitor, Tim Thielen, of Sheridan, WY, was the number one qualifier, with a perfect light.

Joe Harry, of Ferney, won Pro ET, on Sunday over Cal Belden, of Aberdeen.  Belden fouled away his chances at the starting line, red lighting by .050 seconds. Jim Erickson, of Ortonville, MN, qualified number one and lasted until the second round.

Jeri Vines, of Eagle Butte, prevailed over a 26 car Sportsman field to take home the trophy.  Darcy Hagberg, of Spencer, NE, broke out in the final against Vines.  Hagberg, qualified in the middle of the field, dispatched number one qualifier, Jim Hoff, of Bismarck, ND, in round one.

Don Gurnon, of Huron, defeated 2010 Coca Cola/Dakota Motor Sports LLC Bike class champion, Charles Snyder, of Belle Fourche, in the final.  In the double breakout final, Gurnon ran closer to his dial.

Scott Vockell, of Jacksonville, FL, turned back 2010 Coca Cola Street Trophy class champion, Karen England, to take the win.  Vockell, on temporary work assignment, has been a frequent visitor to Oahe Speedway this summer.  Vockell is a regular competitor at Gainesville Raceway

in Gainesville, FL.

Bonnie Fuchs, of Bowman, ND, 2009 Coca Cola BankWest Junior Dragster class co-champion,

met up with number one qualifier, Stacey Hopf, of Madison, in the Junior Major final.  Hopf, hoping to double up for the weekend, broke out against Fuchs at the finish line.  Fuchs, winding down her successful Jr Dragster racing career, will graduate to a door car in 2011.

Tanner Wiese, of Luverne, MN, took his first victory , at Oahe Speedway, defeating

Kimberlee Geuther, of Fort Pierre, in the Junior Minor final.  Geuther took out number one qualifier

and brother, Jonathan Geuther, in the semis.

Coca Cola Points Races #9 and 10

Sunday, September 5, 2010

#9

Due to forecast Labor Day weather, a drivers meeting was held prior to qualifying Sunday morning.  By show of hands, the drivers decided to contest  Coca Cola Points Races 9 and 10 that afternoon.  It was agreed that there would be two qualifying runs followed by Points Race #9.  Immediately following completion of that race, a single qualifier would set the ladders for Race #10.

The current points leader, Curt Humann, of Pierre, served notice that he was not to be denied his first Coca Cola Super Pro title.  Humann put together a better package, to defeat Cary Shonley, of Mitchell, in the final.  Terry Henrikson, of Rapid City, ran right on his dial in, forcing number one qualifier, Joe Wolf, of Pierre, to chase him down in round one.  Wolf broke out by .016 seconds at the stripe.

Randy Nixon, of Huron, got around Larry Iversen, of Pierre, in the Coca Cola Pro final, when Iversen broke out in the final.  Nixon was able to maintain his lead over Iversen , in the season points total, headed into the final race of the season.   Joe Harry, of Ferney, qualified number one, with a perfect reaction time.  Harry would last until the quarterfinals, fouling against Nixon.

Wes Miles, of Spearfish, visiting Oahe for the first time, qualified number one and took the final, over Josh Hanson, of Beresford, in the Coca Cola Dakota Motorsports LLC Bike final.

In another pole to pole class win, Darcy Hagberg, of Spencer, NE,  took the Coca Cola Sportsman win over Tom Harms, of  Valentine, NE.   Hagberg qualified the Hagberg Racing entry in the number one position.

2005 and 2006 Sportsman titlist, Andy Wright, of Gettysburg, took the Coca Cola Street Trophy win against current point leader, Karen England, of Pierre.    England defeated 2009 Street Trophy champion, Ron Winterberg, of Timber Lake, in the semis.

Taryn Colson, of Blunt, maintained her Coca Cola Snap On points lead, with a victory over Matt Bogner, of Belle Fourche, in the final.  Bogner, fouling away his chances, with a red light in the final, earlier defeated number one qualifier, Stephanie Holm, in round one.

Continuing his winning ways, James Morris, of Pierre, charged toward his 4th Coca Cola BankWest Junior Dragster Major Class Championship.  Qualifying number one, Morris defeated Austin Mohr, of Mitchell, when Mohr broke out in the final.  In the heads up final, Mohr pulled a super quick .011 reaction time, but tossed it away at the stripe, breaking out by .003 seconds.

Kimberlee Geuther, of Fort Pierre, defeated North Dakota visitor, Bryce Johnson, of Luverne, in the Coca Cola Oahe Speedway Junior Minor class final.  Geuther got around current points leader, Jonathan Huse, of Onida,

 in the quarterfinals.

Steve Schershligt, of Tea, pulled off a perfect light, in qualifying, to take the top spot.  Legner defeated Schershligt in round three.

Bill Sepannen, of Watertown, brought his "Best Engineered" '55 Chevy gasser to Oahe, in search of the Nostalgia Gas title.  Eric Ohman, of Bismarck, ND, ensured Sepannen would not be denied, fouling at the starting line, in the final.  Ken Branine, of Harrold, number one qualifier, lost in round one.

Ron Winterberg, of Timber Lake, won the Half Track No Box class, over Jesse Schoon, of Surrey, ND.

In other special awards, Alan Black, of Omaha, took home the "Longest Tow" award, and Brad Harms, of Viborg, snared the "Best Appearing" award for his brightly painted '66 Plymouth Belvidere Wagon. Harms' "Whackee Wagon" is widely recognized in the upper Midwest, as a top runner and immaculately prepared race car.

Coca Cola Points Race #8

Saturday, August 21, 2010

Joe Wolf, of Pierre, qualified number one and took  Coca Cola Super Pro Points Race #8,  by virtue of starting line performance.   Wolf qualified with a superb .005 reaction time, pulled off a respectable .030 light in round one, and then got serious in round two and the final.  Lightning quick .003's in those rounds, sent Ken Standiford, of Midland,  and Dale Garber, of Pierre,  to the trailer.

Coca Cola Pro final action  came down to Paul Berger, of Pierre, and Bill Bogner, of Belled Fourche, with Berger taking the win.  In the double break out final, Berger hit the finish line closer to his dial in.  Stan "Butch" Monson,  of Groton, defending Pro Class Champion, qualifying number one, lost in round one.

Chris Boom, of Pierre, returned to the Coca Cola Dakota Motor Sports LLC Bike winners circle on Sunday. The past class Champion, defeated Charles Snyder, of Belle Fourche, in the final.  Snyder, in his loss, has virtually locked up the 2010 Bike Class Championship.

As top qualifier, in a 23-car field, Toni Vetter, of Gettysburg, marched through the Sportsman class to take the win.  Brian Brady, of Pierre, fell victim to Vetter's '75 Mustang , in the final.

Karen England, of Pierre will stay atop the Street Trophy season points count with her win over Ron Winterberg, of Timber lake.  Winterberg, 2009 Street Trophy Champion, qualified number one.

Snap On High School winner, Stephanie Holm, of Pierre, continued the trend of the day, "qualify number one, and win it all".  With a bit of help from Matt Bogner's red light , in the final, Holm became the 5th number one qualifier of the day to take the top spot in their respective class.

James Morris, of Pierre, once again, qualified number one, and carried that momentum all the way to the BankWest Junior Major title.  Morris took the win, when Carly Ellingson, of Rapid City, broke out at the finish line.

Jonathan Huse, of Onida, took another win, in Oahe Speedway Junior Minor

competition, defeating Noah Miller, of Fort Pierre.  Huse got around number one qualifier, Kimberlee Geuther, of Fort Pierre, in the semis.

Jake Miller, of Fort Pierre won the Truck n Carwash/Dominos Junior Gamblers final, over Zach Zebroski, of Pierre.

Sunday, Aug 15, 2010

From an out of the box test run, on his newly acquired '63 Corvette Super gas roadster, to Super Gas champion, at the recently completed NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals, Lance Trujillo has been on a roller coaster ride.

Trujillo, of Gillette, WY, and a regular competitor at Oahe Speedway, brought the Corvette to Oahe on July 3rd, for testing.  In only his second run, he was able to push the roadster to  9.873 seconds, at 155.49 MPH.

The following weekend, Trujillo travelled to Seattle, to compete in the NHRA Northwest Nationals, qualifying fifth, in the 50 car field.  The race weekend was over for Trujillo, following a red light start in the second round.

Now the story gets interesting.  Following Seattle, during a stop at Douglas

Motorsports Park, in WY, a run in with an antelope, at 150MPH,  almost ended this tale. The altercation left Trujillo without a National Dragster Challenge Super Pro Wally, and a wounded left front quarter panel on the Corvette.

Trujillo hit the road the following weekend, for the Mile High Nationals, at Denver. Quick repairs to the Corvette, and an early round loss, gave him time to regroup and catch his breath.

Next up, Cordova Dragway, and a Lucas Oil Division 5 tour stop, should have been a quick I-80 commute across Nebraska and Iowa.  The trip was uneventful until the last 60 miles.  A blown left front tire on the toter and a visit to the ditch, created some anxious moments.  Despite the potential for disaster, the wreck bruised the toter, but did not end up in a rollover.

A long tow into Cordova ended another day on the road.

Upon closer inspection, the Corvette survived the wild ride, but the Super Comp rear engine dragster did not.  Dustin Long, of Mitchell, was able to put the dragster back together.  Despite the thrash, neither car made it to the winners circle, at Cordova.

On to Brainerd, for the Lucas Oil Nationals, this past weekend.  Surviving seven rounds of Super Gas competition, Trujillo took his first National event Wally.  An eventful six week journey paid off on Sunday afternoon.

2010 Coca Cola Points Race #7

Sunday, August 8, 2010

Points Race #7 is in the books at Oahe Speedway.  A two hour rain delay, following qualifying, did nothing to dampen the competitive spirit  in any of the classes.

Pat Conlin, of Fairview, MT, making his first 2010 appearance at Oahe Speedway, took his '67 Camaro to victory over Doug Legner, of Pierre.

Conlin paired a better reaction time and a 10.113 run, just .003 over his dial in, to take the victory.  Legner turned back number one qualifier, Terry Henrikson, of Rapid City, in the semifinals.  Conlin had to get around Doug' Legner's spouse, Bobi, in the other semifinal pairing.  Current 2010 Coca Cola Super Pro points leader, Curt Humann, of Pierre, lost in  round two, to Henriksen.

Tommy Dale Vines,  of Eagle Butte,  took the Pro title over Randy Nixon, of Huron.  Nixon fouled at the starting line, giving the number one qualifying Vines, the win.  Nixon was the only bike rider in the 22 car field.

Former Oahe Speedway High School Champion, Carl Morris, drove his '71 Cheyenne pickup to the Sportsman class victory over Sonnie Boke, of Gettysburg.  Boke, driving dad Steve's Firebird, for the 2010 season, was unable to catch the first leaving Morris, in the final.  Ann Hirsch,  of Pierre, number one qualifier, drew the red bulb against Morris in the semis.

Bike finals came down to two West River rivals, Charles Snyder, of Belle Fourche, and Rob Klinger, of Rapid City.   Klinger, running Snyder's latest acquisition, an '08 Kawasaki ZX14 Ninja, was very late off the tree and

could not make up the difference in  the final.  Snyder has taken a commanding lead in the 2010 Coca Cola Dakota Motor Sports LLC bike class, and has virtually locked up the championship, with only three points races remaining.  Klinger made several passes on the '08 Ninja, in an attempt to take the class record, falling only 1.28 MPH behind, long time record holder, Wade Johnson's 158.89MPH.   Johnson, of Rapid City,  set the record in 2007.

Joe McCarthy, of Newport NE, won the Street Trophy class, over Karen England, of Pierre.  Past Champion Ron Winterberg, of Timber Lake,

qualified number one, broke out against England, in the first round.

Jason Standiford, of Midland SD, returned to Oahe Speedway, after a long absence.  Standiford, a 4 year active US Navy E-5, ships out to Iraq this week.  Jason, doing his job to protect our freedom, was recognized during the racer's meeting.

Snap On High School winner, Matt Bogner, defeated Nick Wright, of Gettysburg.  Wright and number one qualifier, Toni Vetter, of Gettysburg,

met in the second round, with Wright running closer to his dial in, to take the win.

BankWest Junior Dragster Major class winner, James Morris, of Pierre, continued his winning ways.  Morris, coming off a big win three weeks ago,

in the 1st Annual Junior Jam, defeated Bonnie Fuchs, of Bowman, ND, in the final.  Morris was the number one qualifier, with a perfect light.   Morris has three perfect lights for the 2010 season, and leads the Motor Race Images Perfect Light competition.  Fuchs won the South Dakota Drag

Racing State Junior Dragster Championship, on Saturday.

Cody Ryckman, of Fort Pierre, emerged as the winner in the Oahe Speedway Junior Dragster Minor class, defeating Jonathan Huse, of Onida.  Huse qualifying number one, fouled at the starting line, in the final.

Saturday, Aug 7, 2010

The, first ever, South Dakota National Hot Rod Association Drag Racing State Championships were contested at Oahe Speedway last Saturday.  A new program, created by NHRA, crowned state champions in Super Pro, Pro, Bike, Sportsman, and Junior Dragster classes.  The High School champion will be determined on Saturday, September, 4.

Dale Garber, of Pierre, fresh off a National Dragster Challenge Super Pro win, two weeks ago, took the Super Pro championship, over David Rae, of Gillette, WY.  In the double break-out final. Garber pulled off a great .007 reaction time, and coupled that with a closer to dial in run, to take the win.  Rae dispatched number one qualifier, Eric Gietzen, of Bismarck, ND, in the second round.

Bill Bogner, of Belle Fourche, normally races in NHRA's  J/SA Stock class, made his latest visit to Oahe Speedway a good one.  Bogner, took the Pro class championship, when Cal Belden, of Aberdeen, fouled away his chances at the starting line. Bogner was first to leave, on his higher dial in, forcing Belden to wait on the starting line. Belden was a bit too anxious while waiting for the green, drawing the red bulb by .030 seconds.

Tommy Dale Vines, of Eagle Butte, number one qualifier, fell to Bogner in the semifinals.

Scott Vockell, of Jacksonville, FL,  nearly became the first  South Dakota State Champion in the Sportsman Class.  Vockell, running a 2010 Nissan Versa, lost in a breakout run, against Roger Anderson, of Edgeley, ND.  Anderson, a frequent visitor, plowed through the 23 car field, to take the South Dakota Championship, back to North Dakota.  Fellow North Dakotan, David Wyum, of West Fargo, took the number one qualifying spot, losing to Anderson, in the quarterfinals.  Wyum lost fire, in his '79 Cutlass, on the starting line, and had to helplessly watch Anderson run to victory.

Number one qualifier, Charles Snyder, of Belle Fourche, took the Bike championship away from Randy Nixon, of Huron.  While both riders ran identical ET's,  Nixon broke out at the stripe.   Snyder, on a tear, at Oahe Speedway in 2010, took home his 4th win in a row.

Junior Dragster Major and Minor eliminations were run to conclusion, with the two class winners facing off in the Junior Dragster championship final.

Bonnie Fuchs, of Bowman, ND, and Ashley Holm, of Pierre, met in the

Major class finals, with Fuchs winning that match.  Holm and Fuchs are defending 2009 Oahe Speedway Junior Dragster Class  co-champions.

Fuchs defeated James Morris, number one qualifier, in the semifinals.

Junior Dragster Minor class finals paired up Miranda Vines, of Eagle Butte, and Jonathan Huse, of Onida.  Vines, in her rookie year, could not hold off the hard charging Huse , in the final.  Sean Conlin, of  Fairview, MT, took

out number one qualifier, Jonathan Geuther, of Fort Pierre, in round one.  Conlin would later meet up with Huse, in the semifinals.

Fuchs, and Huse met in the finals of the South Dakota State Junior

Dragster Championship, with Fuchs taking the win and the South Dakota trophy back to North Dakota.

South Dakota Drag Racing

Championships

coming to

Oahe Speedway

Aug 7, 2010

July 26, 2010

The first annual NHRA South Dakota Drag Racing State Championships

will be contested at Oahe speedway, on August 7, 2010.  The competition will include Super Pro, Pro ET, Bike, Sportsman and Junior Drag Racing League classes.  Although the race is billed as the South Dakota  Drag Racing State Championships, all competitors, regardless of residence, are invited to attend.  The Speedway looks forward to hosting race teams from all over the Midwest and beyond.

NHRA has created special plaques honoring the State Champions

in Super Pro, Pro, Bike, Sportsman, and Junior Dragster classes.

The newly crafted plaques will feature the state outline, special engraved class plates and a recreation of the famed "Wally" championship  trophy.

The National Hot Rod Association announced the formation of the NHRA State Championships, a special-event program for its member tracks and E.T. bracket racers beginning in the 2010 season. With member tracks across the country as well as in Canada and Puerto Rico, the program will recognize and award grassroots racers with a unique, specially designed NHRA State Championships Wally plaque.

Much like state high school athletic associations that conduct state championships in school sporting events, NHRA will designate and recognize one annual event per state that boasts NHRA member tracks as the official NHRA Drag Racing State Championships.

E.T. bracket categories that are part of the NHRA Summit Racing Series and a Jr. Dragster class contested in the state and NHRA geographic division will receive official NHRA State Championships designation.

The new program joins NHRA’s National DRAGSTER Challenge, NHRA Aerospace Components King of the Track, and NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Challenge lineup of special events.

The long wait is finally over.  The top speed record at Oahe Speedway jumped over the 200 MPH mark on Sunday.  Les Feist, of Clearwater, MN,

pushed his '04 Worthy rear engine dragster to 203.02 MPH, in the quarter mile.  Feist had been the current record holder, at 199.86, set almost two years ago.  The Minnesota driver almost eclipsed the record in the first round of Midwest Wild Bunch competition, clocking a 199.07 MPH pass.

Feist's immaculate dragster is powered by a 706 CI big block Chevy.

In Sunday's Midwest Wild Bunch final round,  Lucas Milnar, of Winnipeg, MB, CAN, defeated fellow Canadian, Fred Dobslaw, of Dugald, MB.   Dobslaw left first on the slower dial in, with Milnar pulling off great .004 reaction time, to follow.  Dobslaw suffered mechanical difficulties near half track and watched Milnar speed past for the win.   Dobslaw had beaten new Oahe Speedway speed record holder, Les Feist, in the second round.  Milnar dispatched Oahe Speedway regular and Midwest Wild Bunch runner, Ray Fuchs, of Bowman, ND, in the quarterfinals.

2010 National Dragster Challenge

Results

July 18, 2010

The 2010 National Dragster Challenge was run in conjunction with the Junior Jam and Midwest Wild Bunch programs on Sunday.

Winners in their respective Oahe Speedway classes are awarded replicas of the National Hot Rod Association's official "Wally" trophy.  The highly prized trophies are named in honor of the late Wally Parks, founder of the NHRA.

Dale Garber, of Pierre took top honors, pole to pole on Sunday.  Garber qualified number one, defeating Craig Johnson, of Luverne, MN, in the final.  Johnson was driving a former Sean Billet '99 Mullis RED.  Johnson was a bit overanxious at the start, red lighting by .008 seconds.   Roland Rang, of Sioux Falls, and Curt Humann, of Pierre, scored identical .001 reaction times, in the first round of qualifying.  The feat is even more unique, in the fact  they were running each other in that round of qualifying.  The thrill of co-qualifying number one was short lived, as Dale Garber pulled off a perfect light, in round two, taking the number one spot.

Pro class winner, Jim Hunsley, of Rapid City, driving Darcy Madsen's '69 Mustang, took the 'Wally' from Roger Hanson, of Pierre.  Hunsley left first, on the slower dial, with Hanson attempting to play catch up.  Hanson's slower reaction time was the difference at the stripe.  Cal Belden, of Aberdeen, took out number one qualifier, Tyler Phillips, of Owanka, in round tw0, only to meet Hanson in the quarterfinals.  Hanson took that win with a quicker

reaction time.

Randy Nixon, of Huron, won the Bike finals when Rob Klinger, of Rapid City, fouled at the starting line.  Nixon, current Coca Cola  Pro Points leader, making a rare appearance in the Bike class, was the number one qualifier.

For sure there was going to be a Winner "Wally" winner in the Sportsman final. Fellow Winner, SD, residents and Grossenberg co-workers, Doug Percy and Charlie Bennett, ran a double break out final.  Bennett scored the closer to dial in run at the stripe.  Bennett turned back number one qualifier, Jon Dallman, of Aberdeen, in the semifinals.  Percy had defeated the last non-GM vehicle, John McLaughlin's '70 Road Runner, in the second round.

Duane Soper. of Gettysburg, took the Street Trophy "Wally', over Karen England, of Pierre.  Soper defeated '06 and '09 National Dragster Challenge Street Trophy winner, Bert Bogner, of Oral, in the second round.  Bogner qualified number one.

Current Coca Cola High School Points leader, Taryn Colson, of Blunt, now has a "Wally" to match sister Alyssa's  '09 NDC Sportsman trophy.

Colson defeated Stephanie Holm, of Pierre, in the final.  Number one qualifier, Toni Vetter, broke out against Holm in the semis.

Junior Dragster Major and Minor classes will meet on September 4, for

the Junior Drag Racing League Championships.  NHRA has commissioned a new plaque for the 2010 champions.

The Junior Dragster Major class final found Gina Kastner, of Clearwater, MN, paired with James Morris, of Pierre.  Despite a great .007 reaction time, Kastner was unable to chase down Morris for the win.  Both drivers, qualifying near the middle of the 18 car field, eliminated opponents on quicker reaction times, through most of the day.  Morris, 3-time Oahe Speedway Junior Dragster Points Series Champion, eliminated 2009 co-champion, Ashley Holm, of Pierre, in the first round.  Holm has qualified number one.   Morris won $2000.00 in US Savings Bonds and an HP Netbook for his efforts.  Kastner won $1000 in USSB and an iPod Touch for her runner-up finish.  Emily Durenberger, of Dayton, MN, losing to Morris,

in the semifinals, picked up $500 in USSB, $50 and a tool set from Farnam's NAPA.  Quarterfinalists, Wyatt Lardy, of Tea, and Tucker Driscoll,

First time visitor to Oahe Speedway, Jordan Pratt, of Ostego, MN, won the Junior Dragster Minor class, over Sturgis Dragway regular, Brooke Konst, of Whitewood.  Pratt, qualifying number one, in the 26 car field, utilized great reaction times all day, to take the win.  The double break out final went to Pratt, running .005 under his dial in, paired with a .028 reaction time.  Konst was a little slower on the start, but went further under her dial, to take the runner up finish.  Pratt took $1000 USSB and an HP Netbook back to Minnesota, with Konst netting $500  and an iPod Touch.  Jordyn Martin, of Mt. Vernon, and Jared Gaskins of Gillette, WY, finishing in the semifinals,  each took home $250 USSB along with $50  and a tool set from

Lynn's Dakotamart Shootouts

Countdown to the Jam

Results
Saturday, July 17

Saturday's hot temperatures were matched by some hot competition at Oahe Speedway.  In the Lynn's Dakotamart Box Shootout,   Craig Johnson, of Luverne, MN, met up with Randy  Nygaard, of Watertown.  Johnson qualified number one and took that position to the final, against  Nygaard.    Nygaard had the faster reaction time, tossing the win away at the finish line, breaking out by .001 seconds.

Johnson recently purchased his winning '99 Mullis rear engine dragster from Sean Billet, of Pierre.

Roger Hanson, of Pierre, took another former Sean Billet owned car to the finals in the Lynn's Dakotamart No Box Shootout.  Lee Phillips, of Owanka, qualifying in the middle of the field, met Hanson, in the final, with

Hanson's '80 Malibu taking the win.  Hanson trailered number one qualifier, Brent Mandery, of Watertown, in the semifinals.

Sonnie Boke, of Gettysburg, took the Trophy Shootout, over 2009 Street Trophy Champion, Ron Winterberg, of Timber Lake.  Winterberg had the better reaction time, but hold not hold off Boke's charge from behind.  Boke spotted Winterberg nearly a five second head start in the the final.  Jeri Vines, of Eagle Butte, number one qualifier, broke out by .001 seconds in the semifinal against Boke.

Dakotamart's Countdown to the Jam Junior Dragster Major class, came down Oahe Speedway regulars, Bonnie Fuchs, of Bowman ND, and

Kendra Kimball, of Rapid City, with Fuchs taking the win.  In the double break out final, Kimball broke out by the greater amount,  giving Fuchs the win.  Number one qualifier, Austin Mohr, of Mitchell, could not match Kimball's wicked quick .001 reaction time in the semifinals.

The Junior Minor class Countdown saw Osteco, MN driver,  Jordan Pratt, take the win, over Kali Driscoll, of Watertown.   Pratt had the better reaction time, to take the win over Driscoll's break out run, in the final.  Another first time visitor, Hannah Feister, of Gillette, WY , took the number one qualifying spot to a semifinal finish.  Feister met Tanner Wiese, of Luverne, MN, in

that round, with Wiese winning the match,  Wiese would meet a similar fate against Pratt, in the semifinals.

Oahe Speedway East-West Challenge

Oahe Speedway hosted Sturgis Dragway on Saturday.  Sturgis regulars were invited to compete in the first challenge of a two race series.  Oahe regulars will return the favor, attending the Sturgis program on July 31.

Rick Meier, of Rapid City, and Tom Nygaard, of Watertown faced off in the East-West Box Shootout  Challenge, with Meier taking the win by .005 seconds, at the stripe.  Meier won the battle by 13.23 inches at the finish line.  Curt Humann, of Pierre, number one qualifier, lost to Meier in the second round.

A thirty car field in the Box Shootout came down to Perry DePoy, of Eagle Butte, and Todd Casper, of Lake Preston,  with DePoy emerging as the victor.  Casper, knowing that he had to be on his game against DePoy, tossed away the win at the starting line, drawing the red bulb.  Casper also tossed away the hood, on his immaculate '69 Trans Am, early in qualifying. "Hood pins secured" is now on his pre race checklist.  Larry Iversen, number one qualifier, fell to Tommy Dale Vines, of Eagle Butte, in the first round.

Shawn England, of Pierre, rode his '06 Hyabusa, to the Trophy Shootout Challenge victory.  England beat Dolly Rush, of Bath, on a quicker reaction time.   Bert Bogner, of Oral, 2006 Street Trophy class champion, made his first appearance of the 2010 season.  Rush ended Bogner's return in the second round.

Austin Mohr, of Mitchell, took the junior Dragster Shootout title, over Kimberlee Geuther, of Fort Pierre. Geuther turned back number one qualifier Cody Ryckman, in the semifinals.

John Hines, of Pierre, and Dan Mohr, of Mitchell, ran the Half Track Attack Box final, with the same outcome as two weeks ago.  Hines,  once again, took the victory, when Mohr broke out at the finish line.

Tyler Ehlers, of Pierre, took his '72 Chevelle to victory circle, in Half Track No Box competition.  Bob Swart, of Mitchell, despite a wicked quick .003 reaction time, tossed away the win against Ehlers, breaking out by .008 seconds at the finish line.

Coca Cola Points Race #6

Dan Mohr, of Mitchell, took his first Coca Cola Super Pro victory in Sunday's final.  Mohr defeated number one qualifier, David Rae, of Gillette, WY, by.003 seconds at the finish line. In another close race, Mohr beat Rae by 7.54 inches at the stripe.

In the largest field of the day, Coca Cola Pro was narrowed to Larry Iversen, of Pierre, and Randy Nixon, of Huron.  The double break out final went to Iversen.  Perry DePoy, number one qualifier, with a perfect light, lasted until the third round.

A West River duel in the Dakota Motor Sports LLC Coca Cola Bike final saw current points leader, Charles Snyder, of Belle Fourche, trailer Robbie Klinger, of Rapid City.  Klinger beat Chris Boom, number one qualifier, of Pierre, in round one.

Chris Odde, of Aberdeen, utilized a quicker reaction time in the Coca Cola Sportsman  final, to chase down Doug Percy, of  Winner.  Odde's  bright orange '89 S-10 defeated number one qualifier, Toni Vetter, of Gettysburg, in the quarter finals.

2009 Street Trophy class champion, Ron Winterberg, of Timber Lake, took the class win, over number one qualifier, Karen England, of Pierre.  England is becoming more comfortable in her '01 Mustang, a replacement

for the Mustang she lost in a racing accident earlier this season.

James Morris, of Pierre, returned to the winners circle in the BankWest Junior Dragster Major class final.  Ashley Holm, of Pierre, number one qualifier, lost to Morris in the finals.

Kimberlee Geuther and Cody Ryckman, both of Fort Pierre,  squared off in the Oahe Speedway Junior Dragster Minor class final, with Geuther taking the win.  Current points leader, Jonathan Huse, of Onida, met number one qualifier Becki Fuchs, of Bowman, ND, in round two, with Huse taking the win. Huse would meet a similar fate against Geuther, in the semifinals.

Steve Boke, of Gettysburg, topped the Gambler's field, defeating Charlene Shepherd, of Pierre in the final.

Kendra Kimball, of Rapid City, won the Truck n' Car Wash/Dominos Junior Gamblers final, when Kali Driscoll, of Watertown, fouled at the starting line.
