Jake Miller and Cliff Jorgenson offered me the chance to ride along on the team’s first outing with their newly acquired AA/FD…I contacted Chris G on the possibility of obtaining Media Creds…Thankfully, Chris took a chance on me and I was onboard for the trip…A long haul from the middle of South Dakota….but worth every mile and smile…The weekend was a learning experience for the team and with an amazing team of great racing friends pitching in to assist our racing crew…we filled in alot of the “blanks” in the log books….
Following a shakedown test pass by Joey Haas, and subsequent teardown, all was well…and Jon Kostelecky was strapped in for his first ever full-on nitro pass….3.982, at just over 203 mph. Two more passes on Saturday eventually placed the car third in the “C” field…
19th of 24 qualified cars in the Nitro Chaos Drags field. Following the third qualifying pass, and subsequent teardown, it was determined that a burned main bearing would force withdrawal from eliminations.
Disappointed for sure, but with spirits still intact and a motor that is certainly repairable…Jorgenson & Miller will be back…
On to Eddyville…”Chaos in the Cornfield”….Memorial Day Weekend!
