The Oahe Racers Association Board members look forward to presenting the
2020 Season of NHRA Championship Drag Racing
at
South Dakota’s only NHRA sanctioned 1/4 mile drag strip.
The 2020 season opens on Memorial Day Weekend, May 23-25. Saturday, May 23, will lead off with our first of a season long series of Shootout Saturday’s. Box/No Box, Bike/Sled, Trophy and Junior Shootouts will be contested on each Saturday throughout the 8 weekends of racing, culminating with our final Shootout Saturday on Labor Day Weekend.
Our 2020 Pepsi Points Series will kick off on Sunday and Monday, May 24-25, with Points Races #1 and #2 of ten races, finishing out our 2020 seaon on Sunday and Monday of Labor Day Weekend. All of our points races will be contested on Sunday of our regular race weekends with the exception of back-to-back races on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. Super Pro, Pro ET, Bike/Sled, Sportsman, Street Trophy, High School and both Junior Major and Minor racers will compete in the ten race series to determine our 2020 Pepsi Points Series Champions.

May 23-24 – Midwest Class Racers Stock/Super Stock Racers will compete for $2000.00 to win on each day. This exciting wheels-up racing action is always entertaining and a must see event!

May 24– The Lindholm Family will, once again, sponsor the Alex Lindholm Street Trophy Race. Open to all Street Trophy class. There will be a special, one race only, payout for this class on May 24. The race will pay $500.00 to win with $250.00 going to the runner up and $125.00 to the semifinalists.

June 7 – Member Track Madness returns to Oahe Speedway. As in the past, we will pair off our six “Big Car” classes, including Bike/Sled in a three round runnoff to determine the ultimate winner. The winner will be awarded a special Member Track Madness trophy and will also receive a spectator entry weekend credential for good for one NHRA National Event.

June 20-21 – The Rocky Mountain Superchargers will be back for their 3rd appearance at Oahe. This Colorado based group plans to show up and set track records in 2020. This diverse series will bring their Funny Car Rampage, Supercharged Thunder and Supercharged All-Stars classes to compete.

July 11 – Our 11th Annual Junior Jam will be run, featuring both Junior Major and Minor classes with enhanced payouts for the two classes. Please stay tuned to the website as well as Facebook and your emails for updated details on this great event for our Junior classes.

July 26 – The 2020 Summit Racing Equipment “King of the Track” gets a new look, but will still award the coveted special “Wally” to the ultimate winner of a three round bracket, pairing off the winners of all the “Big Car” classes in Pepsi Points Race #6 eliminations.

August 9 – Formerly contested as the National Dragster Challenge/All Access Challenge, this race is now billed as the NHRAtv.com Challenge. “Wally’s” will be awarded to all winners in the top six classes contested at Oahe. The Junior classes will compete for their regular payouts and trophies on this day.

August 23 – 2020 South Dakota Drag Racing State Championships returns to the Speedway. This bienial race is shared with Sturgis Dragway. Oahe takes the even years and Sturgis, the odd. A totally new trophy will be awarded to the winners of eliminations during Pepsi Points Race #8.

Prelim – September 5 – Qualifier for the 2020 Bike/Drag Sled Run for the Money. The winner and runner up of today’s Bike/Drag Sled competition will be automatically quallified to participate in Sunday’s Run for the Money Championship.

September 5 – Junior Major and Junior Minor classses will take center stage for their annual Summit Racing Equipment Junior Drag Racing League Challenge. Both class winners will recieve special Junior “Wally” trophies , created especially for this race.

Finals – September 6 – The final for the 2020 Bike/Drag Sled Run for the Money will be run following eliminatins for the day. This two round runnoff will pair the winners and runners up from Saturday’s Bike/Sled Shootout and Sunday’s Pepsi Points Race #9. There will be money added payouts in the final. Check back as the season progresses for details.
September 7 – Pepsi Points Race #10 – 2020 Championship Day at Oahe Speedway. Our 2020 Pepsi Points Series Champions will be crowned.
